Topic: Ear Infection Saga | |
---|---|
Okay, going on three weeks since I first thought it might be an ear infection. Broke down, got antibiotics. And two weeks later, somewhat better, but still infected.
So they gave me stronger antibiotics..... FOUR PAGES of warnings and side effects..... Makes you wonder if this is one of those "the cure is worse than the condition" times.... |

Well, the most important warning, before any other info, is tendon problems. An entire page of possible tendon related side effects.
This is a big thing since I'm working out to lose weight and I have to practice for a dance performance on Feb 28th. So I'm going to have to be extra careful and watch out for problems. |

I use an eye dropper, and tilt my head, and put hydrogen peroxide in there and listen to it boil, then rince with water and do it again. So far it has worked on the 3 ear infections i've had in the last 20 years or so. A chick in New Mexico taught me that trick. Works great ! |

Oh yeah, part of the reason I'm on this horrible, evil, anti-biotic is because it can fight off multiple infections. Got a sore throat, fever, headache. Until the fever goes away, I'm contagious. I'm trying to decide if I want to still have the fever in the morning and miss work, or it I want it to be gone so I can go to work.....
That's why I'm awake in the middle of the night, in a cold apartment, half naked, yet my face feels like I'm sitting in front of a raging bonfire. |

Good luck! I have to fight an ear infection every year around Christmas, and it SUCKS.

Another thing you can do to flush the bacteria out would be to do this-
When you're in the shower, aim the water spray from the nozzle into your ear canal. It'll flush out whatever's inside, including ear wax and any other forms of contaminants. Just make sure that the water's as warm as you can stand (not too hot, as you'll scorch your ear canals) and hold your ear in the stream for at least a minute. |

Yeah, do that too. And blow dry the ear after to get rid of any remaining water. Because that's what the first doctor told me. Of course, the first doctor said a middle ear infection. The doctor that could see me today said that is improving but now they can see farther into the ear and I've got an inner ear infection........

I've dealt with a few ear infections, it took awhile for them to go away because i have small ear canals. just keep at it. hopefully it gets better. as for the whole, Makes you wonder if this is one of those "the cure is worse than the condition" times, i feel you. I just started taking ritalin and after reading up on it... WOW, how can we make kids take something for being hyper when it can cause them really bad mental issues and is more likely in younger kids.

Inner ear infections are a bit worse than the middle ear kind and they're gonna need some extra attention. Better stock up on the antibiotics and the ear meds.

Liquid garlic, it was recommended by a Pediatrics Specialist nurse to me when I was taking my daughter in almost weekly with ear infections and she started developing allergies to the penicillin.
You can usually find the capsules that have the liquid inside them, break them open, warm the liquid up and with an eye dropper drip into your ear. The warmth will sooth the ear canal, garlic kills the bacteria and I've never had an issue with ear aches/infections since for my daughter or my son. You smell pretty funky for a day or so but end results are worth it. |
