Oh yeah, part of the reason I'm on this horrible, evil, anti-biotic is because it can fight off multiple infections. Got a sore throat, fever, headache. Until the fever goes away, I'm contagious. I'm trying to decide if I want to still have the fever in the morning and miss work, or it I want it to be gone so I can go to work.....

That's why I'm awake in the middle of the night, in a cold apartment, half naked, yet my face feels like I'm sitting in front of a raging bonfire.

Maybe you should go have some tests done.

Sorry you are feeling so bad. Hopefully you can get it on the run in a couple more days. The antibiotics sure mess with your stomache and female tract balances.

Some things I would check into follow.

If your face is hot it tells me something is absessing and you need to go back to the doctor before you have more complications.

I would take every medication prescibed or over the counter that you use and make sure you are not useing something that is rendering your antibiotics useless by accident. It is easier than you might think. Especially if you store them in the wrong place.

I think I would visit a good maxiofacial dentist and see if you don't have some kind of dental problem that is draining down into your inner ear and keeping it infected. A minor visual inspection wouldn't necessarily allert a general practitioner. Maybe and ENT MD but inner-disciplenary approach is rare. The doctor will assume you are not taking your antibiotic right and keep giving you more or refuse to treat you. But if you had your wisdom teeth pulled and they left particals in the socket that are floating down through the back of the oral cavity they might be decaying and causeing infection.

No insult intended but you might want to make sure you have not picked up some kind of drug resistent STD. I can't tell you the number of times I have seen women be chronically ill and not have this checked. Some will be knocked down and then reflare after they build back up when the antibiotics are no longer in the system. Some can hang around for years.

Another thing I would consider; especially if you smoke, or if you have a family history is if you have some kind of cancer. My brother blew off his to being chronic ear infections until it was too late.

I would also ask if you are drinking through a straw that comes in those thermose mugs that have the flex in them? As much as you might wash them the micro-spores of mold tend to grow in them and you are dragging that up in your oral cavity, throat, and ear canals. It will give you and allergic reaction and drainage that can easily drift into chronic infections. Same story if you smoke off of a water pipe.

And what do you think I was doing at the Dr's office today when the prescribed the rather scary sounding anti-biotics. Since the first round didn't completely get rid of the ear infection and now I have a second infection on top of that one?

Lets see, the no sex in nearly a year. And after the last break-up, asked to be checked for anything at my yearly. So the STD issue is out.

Don't use mugs with straws. Don't use mugs with lids. Don't smoke anything, let alone a water pipe.

Had the flu about 4 weeks ago. Sick for nearly a week. Infection moved into the ears. First round of antibiotics mostly cleared it up. Not completely. So on round two. Since I'm worn down, I'm not surprised I've got something wrong with my throat now.

Considering this started after a really bad car accident that left me with nightmares for a good week and totally stressed out and unable to focus for about the same time, getting this sick and run down isn't really outside the realm of possiblity. Doesn't mean it has to be anything that unusual and bizarre.

The 4 pages of disclaimer is nothing more than the drug companies way to distance themselves from any mishaps should there be any. That way you can only sue your Doctor and not them. I would take some confidence in what your Doc prescribes if you have any faith in his expertise.
