I have 4 that match me to bi-polar 1. I feel sad and empty. 2. Lose interest in doing things that I usually enjoyed. 3. Sometimes I feel unusually great. 4. I have alot of rage

My oldest sister is bi polar and she has such ups and downs it is crazy. She doesn't take her meds the way they are prescribed. Other than that when she is in an up mood you couldn't ask for a nicer person.

I've suffered with it for years but I seem to manage O.K. if I take my meds daily, avoid alcohol, and avoid high stress situations. Therepy is a good thing too. Over time you'll learn how to manage it and you'll start feeling better.

Suffering is optional.

I have a family member with bi-polar disorder + epilepsy. Scorpio is absolutely right. It is managable and not the end of the world (according to me). He is doing much better since getting the right medication, staying on regular sleep/wake cycles, and learning how to deal with stressful situations. He got lots better years ago when he stopped smoking weed. Seriously..I wouldn't say it if it were not true. :) I personally think his biggest breakthrough was in getting some counseling that helped him deal with stress and anger.

5. Blaming everyone else on feeling down.. anything that is negetive in your life is not your fault and everyone else should take care of you..

Interesting .. my ex is a major pothead. that answers a lot & he had horrible sleep habits .. flipped upside down every other week. Crazy.

I often wonder if having no empathy<not feeling sorry or guilty or bad> for things you have done wrong would be one of them?

That's a different illness, more antisocial than bipolar. If anything bipolar types feel more, not less.

Yup...this statement pretty much sums up the whole topic. We can stop caring now.

Did a professional tell you this? Did you get a second opinion?

If I don't manage it prpoerly I become absolutely un-bearable to be around and un-able to function at all. For years I bounced around from job to job and place to place and managed to alienate everybody in my life. I drank and used drugs indiscriminately. It took years but once I learned how to manage being Bi-polar my life changed drastically for the better. I'm a completely different person now than the one I used to be.
