I keep seeing profiles that say they think a relationship should be 50/50. I always thought that both people in the relationship should give 100%. Anybody else?...

Totally agree. Though have to admit on a day to day basis it might slip. That is how come making a relationship work is so difficult.

well when a relationship is seen as 100% then logically each person can only give 50% each... its simply the mathimatical aspect of it...

I don't really believe in percentages. I think folks should bring their strong points to the relationship. The rest works itself out. flowerforyou

I would think that by '50/50' they mean that they are looking for a relationship where chores and such are shared equally, rather than the amount of effort required to sustain the relationship.

Personally, I've always felt that priorities change day by day (heck, even hour by hour) and that everyone cannot be expected to give their all at every single moment in the relationship.

but that equals 200%

50/50 makes sense to equal 100%

I think 50/50 is meant in general. I don't want to give my heart to someone just to get a foot back. Know what I sayin'?

I think the 50/50 is people meeting each other half way when dealing with issues within the relationship. Each person needs to put 100% effort into the relationship to get it to work.
