I have been on these kinda sites for a while so I'll give you some free advice.

1) Don't waste time emailing women blindly(i.e any women that you have just seen their profile). No matter how interesting you might be, you will be lucky to get 10% of your mails replied to.

2) Post in these forums, try to make people laugh.

3) Be patient and keep posting, even if you think you are getting nowhere.

4) Once you have made a couple of hundred posts or so, start pouncing on the women you have seen posting, that have also seen you. Read their profile first.

There ya go, its easy. No need to be nervous.
