Q: What prevented you from not visiting those places where owner didn't restrain his smoking patrons?

A: Nothing. I had the choice of whether to go or not. Just like the smokers have a choice of whether to go or not.

See, you just don't want to discuss anything. Are you going to keep repeating the same over and over until I am tired? Even here, where you come supposedly to talk, you prefer to simply have it your way, no matter what, be it right or wrong.

I asked you a simple question. You answer it and immediately turn it over to suggest that the situation didn't change. But it did. There was no physical force before. Now, there is. The treat of violence that you approve.

Nobody was forced to smoke, before.

Everybody is forced not to smoke now.

You simply reserved the restaurants and bars for yourself.

No one is forced not to smoke. It's not taking away your right to smoke. There are just restrictions. Not going to argue about it with you.

lol hes right. if people want to smoke in a restaurant where the owner wants the place able to have designated smoking areas or the whole place what not, they should be able to. there are plenty of places where owners do not like smoking.

regardless we have these laws in ohio, and i break them everyday-not saying i smoke around people, i dont, i just dont care if there are laws because i feel they are invalid. i mean i smoke pot, thats illegal, i might as well smoke cigarettes (if i still smoked) where i want to- most bar owners allow u to do it, and dismiss it, at least the small bars. they make the laws, yet dont do a very good job enforcing them, i suspect it will be like this in Virginia.

The next thing you know...theyre going to BAN hookah bars- which is just ridiculous. its enclosed in their own place- and its a place just for smoking hookah, cigarettes, cigars.

I guess it depends on where you go? When I used to go to Columbus, I went to a bar around there that everyone went outside to smoke. Not one person was smoking inside. Same with DC and Maryland.

Private clubs/bars will be allowed to have smoking if they want. The others will be allowed to have smoking rooms, which does not force anyone to not smoke while they're out.

thinking of a punk song.....first they came for the socialists, and i did not speak out, then they came for the trade unionists..and i did not speak out....THEN THEY CAME FOR ME!!!

yeah...there was a similar post not too long ago about a smoking ban...who, exactly, has the right to tell another person where they can or cannot indulge in a LEGAL desire...without being a hypocrite? Perhaps I'm diabetic...would you quit eating donuts around me? I might get second-hand glaze and die. Face it folks...we ALL gonna die one way or another. Ban all the places you want from smoking...I'll still smoke there (and get thrown out) just on principle. Or would the anti-smokers prefer if I got a big 'ol pinch of Skoal and spit the juice all over the floor of the non-smoking sections?
