Plumbing!
The worst job I had was sewer repair. I have had to use a special suit with an air hose attached to deal with a house that had a long standing sewer rupture under it. I had to handle remediation first by pumping out almost a foot of sludge from under the house before I could patch the pipe. Even with my air supply almost two hundred feet away there was no escaping the smell. Worst was the crawl space was only 22 inches! I was not paid enough for that and quit after the first one I had to do like that. Nothing like being stuffed in a bag and forced to work in a VERY cramped space hoping like hell the suit didn't rupture! |

The worst job I ever had was between jobs......for 2 weeks I pulled mobile home axles from under established mobile homes. The people would sell this company their weels and axles and be given a contract to use a brand new set if they ever wanted to move their home. I was the guy to go and remove the old sets. Anyone ever been under a moblie home that's been in the same spot for many years?????? how many more little inhabitants move into the basements ??? LOL.....looks like you may have looked under one before!!! LOL.......critters....trash.....leakey pipes (of ALL kinds), to say the least.....it was interesting.....but.....one has to make a living....I'd do it again if it was all I could get though..... |

Roustabout on a workover oil rig in Louisiana, 1977. The work wasn't that bad but to call my co-workers alcoholic rednecks would have been a compliment. I distinguished them by the number of or shade of green/black thier teeth were. Filthy, foulmouthed, tobacco spittin', MD-2020 for lunch drinkin' dullards who would have loved to upgrade to a trailer. Whose wives were seldom over 15 and already had no teeth and 5 kids. Yeah.....workover rigs are bad.....did it for 2 weeks....BUT....the big "triple" drilling rigs are FUN work!!! HARD work, but it gets in your blood.....Paid very good too....I worked on the drilling rig for 4 years.....learned a WHOLE bunch about geology, and pressures of fluids, and hydraulics, and mechanics......and got quite physically fit too!!!!! |

Well.....we did it all....and I haven't paid a professional mechanic for anything except front end alignments in over 40 years....there's nothing I can't do or fix on any model vehicle....it was just my preference to learn more than wiping windshields and checking oil...... |

You do know I work for the courts now....no you don't. You do now! ![]() No worries. I'm an engineer, not a bank robber. Actually, I've done a bit of work for the Federal Courts (Southern District) and (don't hate me) the IRS. I have a friend thats a judge and he's cool. But I am still no fan of law enforcement. Bullies mostly. And exempt from the laws that they are supposed to enforce. But good for you. You're at work now I suppose. ![]() |

But good for you. You're at work now I suppose. ![]() I work on a deadline system. And I don't take lunches. When it's busy, I'm on here less and I work nights and weekends. I take my job very, very seriously. |

I was a bouncer at a Mexican nightclub... I was a budding pro-wrestler for some podunk wrestling organization (think three steps below "backyard wrestling")... I was a car salesman for about two weeks... and I was a call center idiot for four weeks.
I dunno which was worst of all, though. |

Years ago I worked in a bagel shop. After a couple weeks the owner decided to leave me in charge for a weekend and gave me a young kid to train. We got swamped and the kid disappeared on me so I went looking for him. Finally found him in the basement jerking off. Decided to find other employment after that.

Yeah, I agree. I worked on a few drilling rigs in S. Louisiana and really liked it. Floorhand, lead tongs. I always have liked hard work and, to this day, even though I do computer and engineering stuff, still get a hard day in from time to time. Just a few months ago a friend came by and asked me to help him for ONE day hanging steel on a new paper plant here. I put off my other work and ended up staying over a month until the job was done. Hard work is good and good for you. |

Working as a maid in a hotel and did it until my ninth month of pregnancy...14 rooms a day you clean by yourself. Did I mention my baby weighed 9lbs. 4oz. I was a whale. The weekends were the worst with the love fest that were taking place. YUCK!

The job itself wasn't all that horrible, but the people were. It was an office full of people who thought college was silly and didn't understand my need to finish school. |

i have also worked at a telephone call center; along with 500 other people.(please, do not do this unless you love rejection, and rudeness, on a daily basis.)
