Just wondering if there are any other college grads out there who have
been affected by President Bush's decision to make it where you can't
file bancruptcy on student loans? I got another forbearance on my
student loan, whew. The colleges entice you with this information on how
you can get these student loans and how when you get this supposeby
great jobs that paying back the loans is like nothing. I was wondering
if I was the only one to fall for it.

I plugged the phone back in. I was trying keep the creditors at bay but
with the new laws that big business has a right to get by your privacy I
thought what the heck I might as well deal with them or just have the
phone disconnected.

you took the loan, took the class,took the {I'm only guessing} "A". NOW
pay the loan BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you didn't get the job it's because
you didn't deserve it.

I just wish the colleges would have to readjust like the military did
with guaranteed enlistments. To many students who have to pay back the
loan the loan givers should be paid back. My problem is with the
colleges themselves whose offices don't guarantee jobs like the military
had to guarantee jobs.

Colleges are in the business of selling you a "well rounded education"
whether or not you can make a living with what they teach you is
immaterial to them.

The world does owe you a living, you just have to work like hell to get
it. A college degree does not guarentee you an instant 6 or 7 figure
income job upon graduation. You still get to start at the bottom and
work your way up. A degree may just help you get up the ladder faster
or climb a little higher, but where you go and how high you climb is as
much dependent on your ambition and work ethic and your intelligence as
your degree. Just remember that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
You have to pay for everything you get.

I am sorry but life don't come with a guarentee, I wish that it did.
Perhaps if you sat down and talked with your creditors you can work out
a payment schedule that you can live with. Most places are willing to
work with you because in the end they still get their money and that is
their primary concern.

Thanks. They are working with me. I agree there is no free lunch. What
comes around goes around. They didn't force my hand to sign on the
dotted line and neither did my ex. Life is all about learning. You have
to take the good with the bad.

I am glad you are trying to work things out. I am sure it is very
stressful and depressing to be just out of college and saddled with what
must seem to be an insurmountable debt. Sometimes life teaches us a
bitter lesson, but I am sure that with your positive attitude and

degree in. The more people that know what you are looking for, the
better the chance that one of us may be able to point you toward
something.

I first took the computer repair to get the first associates degree but
then learned it is easier to just go get a new one for some people so
then took the computer networking for the second associates degree. I
have asked the local computer repair shop for advice and his advice was
that I might have to move out of this rural area. Since wireless is
becoming more prevalent even in the boondocks I am trying to get more
information on it. The computer field is rapidly expanding.

Obviously then you know your way around the inside of a computer. You
have to fish where the fish live and in this case, there are many more
computers in the cities than in the country. I am sure that you are
also well acquainted with the various software that are out there. You
might consider things like the "Geek Squad" or business of that nature.
Further, with the proliferation of direct satelite links for both TV and
Intenet, installing those systems is a big business now.

I agree that there are some problems within the student loan industry. I
think the biggest one I know of is the strict nature of the payment
agreement. I have a few, adult friends, women, who got loans after a
divorce, to go back to school. Upon finishing they did get jobs. Jobs
that paid between $24,000 and $32,000. How many of you have tried to
raise a couple kids on this kind of income. Deadbeat dads were no help
with the kids. Each of them is doing their best to pay back these
loans, happy they had them, in fact. The problem - SallyMae will not
accept less of a payment than the regularly scheduled monthly payment.
I'm sorry, but an income average of $30,000 barely supports a family of
3 or 4. What happens when the car breaks down? Sorry the payment could
not be made this month, no I can't pay extra for the next 2 months to
make it up. They even go so far as to garnish wages, forcing these
moms to work two jobs, with KIDS at home, because having the second job
does not pay for the loan and the babysitter.

For those who are willing to deal, to talk, to stay in touch with the
creditors, there just HAS TO BE A WAY to make arrangements.

rainbow have you considered medical code billing? thats one hot
profession right now and decent pay. Luckily I was able to go to college
thanks to the montgomery bill from my dads death with the armed forces.
I also worked 2 and sometimes three jobs during my college days.

I heard on the radio today that there is a scandal breaking in the
student loan program. Banks giving kick backs to people in the
Department of Education to let them charge higher rates to the students
who take out loans. Didn't get all the details.
