My oldest son relocated to his dad's a couple hours away.
His girlfriends still lives here in Temple.
Her birthday is on Tuesday. He will be unable to come down
to Temple for a couple of weeks. I do not know her very well,
however asked her if she wanted to go to dinner on her
birthday. Her parents thought that was weird that I would
want to take her to dinner esp w/o my son. I want to get to
know her. I would like to get her a birthday present.
What should I buy her that saids you are special to me because you are
special to my son? What would be an appropriate gift?
She will be 16.
Thanks everyone

Thank you Morena and Alpine
I asked my son when he was here this past w/e
Of course he said "I don't know"
For my son this Christmas- I purchased a lot of
gift certificates from fast food places like
Taco Bell and Bush's Chicken because I know teens
are always "hanging out" "on the go" etc.
Do you think that would not be special enough?

Maybe a gift card to Bath and Body works, most teenage girls wear
scented lotions. That's a nice gesture of you to take her out to dinner.

not to sound cheap here nurjoyce but i've
found that a card with an explaination of
how you feel does wonders. and if you feel
that that isn't the way to go or for an added
touch a necklace or bracelet. shoot you could
buy her a phone card so she would be able to talk
your son more.

As I was reading your post my eyebrows grew closer and closer together,
real puzzled look crept over – I thought you were talking about your X’s
girl friend!!

Ask your son what she likes.

How about a girls day out? Go girls and hair done and then go out for
lucng, or go take her shopping and let her pick something out and then
go out for a bite to eat.

If they don't have much, make sure you don't spend alot, her parents
might get insulted and think you are out to show them up.
