Topic: I would never trade ........... | |
---|---|
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making
my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant. I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging. Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will. I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old. I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things. Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect. I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong. So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it). MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART! MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER! FRIENDS FOREVER! I would never trade my life for anything in this world. I have friends that will stand by me and kids that love me as much as I love them. So would you trade who you are today and the ones around you for anything else? |

"Someone falls to pieces, sleeping all alone
Someone kills the pain, spinning in the silence To finally drift away Someone gets excited In a chapel yard and catches a bouquet Another lays a dozen, white roses on a grave Yeah and to be yourself is all that you can do Hey, to be yourself is all that you can do Someone finds salvation in everyone, another only pain Someone tries to hide himself, down inside himself he prays Someone swears his true love until the end of time Another runs away, separate or united, healthy or insane Even when you've paid enough Been pulled apart or been held up Every single memory of the good or bad Faces of luck Don't lose any sleep tonight I'm sure everything will end up alright You may win or lose To be yourself is all that you can Be yourself is all that you can do" --*-- Making mistakes or having regrets is a part of life, it's how we learn to do the right thing. If we tried to be someone else or different everytime we would end up in a vicious circle of mistakes and regrets. Our uniqueness is what makes us special :) |

Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ... I will. that is your right... and everyone deserves that choice... I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old. again that is your choice but for me im too fat for that... but then again i was too fat when i was 30 lbs thinner.. im really modest.. and that should be ok because its my body and thats my choice.... I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things. i forget too much sometimes... but a reminder is always welcome!! I totally agree.... I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face. never imagined id live past 35 so me too!! So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver. well too late for that for me As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong. definately... but i do know how to appoligise when i am wrong... So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day(if I feel like it). all except the desert.. i dont much care for it... MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART! MAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RAINBOW OF SMILES ON YOUR FACE AND IN YOUR HEART FOREVER AND EVER! FRIENDS FOREVER! yep... I would never trade my life for anything in this world. I have friends that will stand by me and kids that love me as much as I love them. So would you trade who you are today and the ones around you for anything else?ving more k only thing i would trade is having more knowledge for i strive to learn.... new things and new ways to think of old things... meaning i do bend.. when i realize there is a different way of thinking and approaching things.. for keepint a open mind to new things or new ways of thinking are always a good thing... oh and id like to travel a bit more... and better my own flaws.. so id trade that. ive made some bad choices in the past and like to make better ones in the future so yes i would trade... ok just a little |

and its all a good experience for you have learned something to better yourself...
|
|
|
|
exactly, learning is the whole point. to learn we have to be willing to make mistakes. what's important is to feel that you've learned and accomplished something, because if you feel the need to trade/be someone else then probably that someone needs to take to take a good look inside and she what feels good and what is it you want for yourself

Yeppiers we do tend to as we grow older to look at life in a different way and yes we see things the way we did not when we were younger. But..........we realize that no matter what it was we did not do or try that today we know we are happy being able to do and enjoy the things that we have in fact been able too. We finally begin to realize that we are only human and there is no longer a need to rush through life. |

ahhh the self realization of " I just don't care what others think, I love me and who I have become "
