the war on drugs is a ploy used to distract the public from whats really going on....

at least in regards to interaction with other countries...whose economy for the most part, depends on that particular market

as for things like meth...well, its sad and dangerous

and should be stopped, but where there is a will there is a way
even if it is a waste

While most people already know that weed is 'mostly harmless' it wont be legalized in the near future because the pharmaceutical companies would lose billions in sales every year. It's got nothing to do with it being dangerous.

drugs and violence go hand in hand mostly over gangs fighting for turf to sell an illegal commodity..if its legalized gangs need to find a new occupation...i think it would actually curb alot of the street violence.

It is making great stride in that direction though, I figure it isn't too long before it is at the very least decriminalized in all states.

the worst of it is that if you partake in illegal drugs you are supporting the cartel wars in Mexico

More people have been killed in Juarez alone than all the American troops in Iraq in the same time period

and there have been 200 firefights between Mexican military and American Border Patrol on AMERICAN SOIL in the last five years

only its not politically correct to report that stuff so no one knows about it

In Mexico the governments drug czar was just arrested for corruption and working for the cartels.

He replaced the last drug czar who was arrested for...

aiding the cartels and feeding them information on law enforcement activity against them

Weed. make it legal. look both ways north and south. Mexico legalized it as well as Canada. Both have made a lot of $ from it. Now is the perfect time. We need the money, it could turn the economy around. Both is savings from law enforcement, but from the taxes too.
Bet more people would quit smoking ciggs if Weed were legal! I would

I believe anything that is NATURAL should be legal. Marijuana, shrooms, peyote, etc...

Manufactured man made drugs should remain outlawed. Excluding certain prescription drugs.

Amsterdam has the right idea. There is little to no crime there. It's a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

Color as in skin color.

Marijuana was made illegal very soon after alcohol prohibition ended. Guess who proposed marijuana become illegal? The same guy who had been in charge of alcohol prohibition. He was out of a job unless he came up with something new to chase. It was referred to as a "mexican" and "black" drug, and during the 30's I don't think I need to explain the typical white American attitude toward people of other ethnic backgrounds.
There was actually a deal made with the people. You bring us your marijuana and register, and you receive a stamp that says you can have marijuana. One catch... you don't have that stamp when you go to register for it now do ya? Surprise, you go to jail. There were never any of those stamps issued either. They simply put some bait out there and preyed on the trust of the citizens who bought it.

hmm are we winning the war on drugs ..apparently not after reading the posts. To many think its ok? well as for myself.. and I do mean myself... I have done some serious weed and yes some chemiclas in my youth.. do I regret it.. not really...do I think its okay.. nope.. not at all. I don't need chemicals either manufactured in a garage or at a pharmacutical plant and nor do I need to smoke a plant. Watched to many friends burn themselves out on weed and wonder why? let their lives go to shambles.. and become so useless.

I just don't need to rely on those things to make my life better or more enjoyable. I have grown up apparently.....
