Over losing his job.....faxed a letter to a news station in Cali stating he had no hope left, that he and his wife were both lost there jobs from the hospital??

When doing lay offs, should companies be allowed to lay off two bread earners in the same family, when working for the same company??

How do you feel about this???

Is this a sign of the times to come??

A little more info the mother and the father withdrew the children a week before stating they were moving to Kansas.... The letter also stated that he and his wife were in agreement and they didn't wish to leave their children for someone else to raise.

I don't feel anything about it...........sorry. I do think however, that this mans problems ran much deeper than simply loosing his job.

unfortunatly companies can lay off two bread winners in the same family. It makes things tough but not impossible. There is unemployment and there are other organizations/charities that can help with expenses and food.

To kill yourself and your family over something like this is crazy.

things will probably get worse before they get better.

I had a tough time putting down my dog who was 18 years old and in constant pain. I can not imagine how someone could commit this act without having some serious mental problems that were there before the layoffs.

I'm sorry, I agree, there must have been something else very seriously wrong with him for him to do something like that. It's tragic, yes, but I don't think it was simply because of losing his job.

Companies can do anything they want with their company. They are beholden to no one but themselves. There are some that feel a responsibility to their employees but it always comes down to their bottom lines.

Why is it the company's fault? They didn't create the economy and in all probability, the people who made the decisions didn't know who they were laying off, much less that they were related.

Speak not of those before you have walked in their shoe's. Go ahead, sit back and, oh so easily criticize another going through a major crisis. One does tend to lose their healthy frame of mind during overly stressfull time's.

I agree the thinking on the mother and father's part seem irrational, but people have done this type of thing for less.

 it's the company's fault because upper management clowns have no idea what it is like to be a worker in the trenches...be seeing you

That's what I'm doing, I've lost jobs before, but it never made me want to murder people I loved. His shoes are stained with his families blood, his life was so bad that gives him the right to commit murder?

I have been in this families shoes before and the thought of killing myself or my family has never crossed my mind.

I agree that this man must have had much more deep seeded issues than losing his job.

As for it being fair to layoff both parents, well that is the chance you take when you work for the same company.

Why is it that this situation upset so many but when a factory in a smalltown can close putting the entire town out of business, no one seems to be all upset about thatfrustrated

I blame both parents since it seems they both made the decision. not just the father.
