It's not the best place to find a mate of any sort- it's pretty much "gold-digger central" out here. And I know this because I've seen friends get raked over the coals by such types over the years.

There are a lot of alcoholics on Catalina Island. In fact, I almost punched a drunkard out when I went to a blues concert out there- he was drunk and belligerent and thought he could take me down.
Had the security at the concert not jumped in and rolled the slob outta there, I surely woulda smashed his face in. Never been to Catalina since. |

The blues concerts were a recent thing- they started up around five years ago. They were more-or-less a hippie-fied way of trying to drum up revenue and commerce. |

This is just not true at all california is a very large state and one of the most diverse places in the world! There is absolutley no truth to that statement other than what you have experienced. Besides L.A. that is shallow central as you describe is filled with a majority people from other places. Its extremely popular for a reason, its because its a wonderful place to live. |

Cali...far more beautiful then the mid-west, but stay away from the corner pharmacist...he doesn't actually have a license, but the drugs he prescribes are pretty good. Oh, and watch out for the crazy lady on the corner of the Hollywood Boulevard...God did not actually send her.
