Topic: The universe doesn't like us together.

We talked nonstop for weeks. Then we started txting and talking on the phone. Finally we met. And went on two dates and it was great.

Then, the universe decided to be...obnoxious. Every time we try to see each other, something goes wrong. He gets a flat tire, I get called into work...and on and on until just recently, we were supposed to go out tonight and he ended up in the hospital! He's alright, just a little tired, and is recovering...but sheesh. Someone up there seems to hate us.

I'm normally not superstitious or religious or anything..but it just seems weird. That things only go crazy when we want to see each other.
So I haven't seen him in a long time...and it's not going to get much better (classes start tomorrow for spring semester and I'm busy six days a week)...and I just don't know what to do.

I really like him. But we can never see each other. And it's so early in dating that it's just...I don't know. If the universe hates us together this much...?

I need help. How do we fight the universe? How do we survive not seeing each other so early in dating? Because...there's no real...committment there. Or at least not a spelled out one...all we have is a whole lot of mutual like and canceled plans. :(

Come up with a backup plan-

If one of you gets a flat tire on the way to a date, go into your trunk and pull out a bicycle. If you get called in for work, call in sick. If a friend ends up in the hospital, then BOTH of you go there.

I have a motto. Everything happens for a reason. If you two are meant to see eachother you will eventually. And maybe you two not being able to see each other could be a blessing in disguise. If it's meant to be it will happen. Everything that is meant to happen will sometime or another.

We do make back up plans...and they seem to fall through too.
We had one date plan get canceled seven different ways. It was horrible.
heehee. And we live a half hour apart...the bike ride would be...unrealistic...but a good suggestion lol.

I know you said you're not religious, but to me if it's God's will nothing can stop it.

Man! That's pretty weird there. A fluke or not...I hope the next time you both plan a meeting, it will fall through successfully and not in cancellation. Best wishes to you both.

Stop sign?

That's what I was afraid of.
It just seems like a horrible way to break it off.
"Sorry, we have major schedule conflicts. It's not you, it's your life."

The STOP sign could mean a lot of different things. It could mean stop trying so hard. Maybe just show up sometime instead of all this planning. And now it's come to in the back of your mind, everytime you plan something, you think something will happen. And guess what? It does. If you put the energy out there that the plans will fall thru, they will.

I suppose I have been just waiting for it to crash...but that works a lot better than being disappointed.

Randomly showing up? I don't know. We've only been on two dates...is that ok to do?

Maybe, maybe not. But if you talk to him and have a general idea of when he's available... throw it out there. Like "since everytime we plan something, something always seems to happen, so I was wondering if we just did a spur of the moment thing, would that be cool?" If he gets freaked out by that...then maybe it's better you know now. And maybe, the sudden cancellations weren't all that accidental in the first place. At least then you would know... Isn't that what you want?

What I want is to be able to see him without having to check my phone every fifteen minutes for messages saying "oh no...you won't believe what just happened..."

haha. Spur of the moment...what's sad is I just started planning a spur of the moment thing. That kind of defeats the purpose, lol.

idk if spur of the moment would really work though. Both of us are full time students, and I work on top of that, and run a club at my school, so I can't not plan...so my spur of the moment would be tuesday or sunday...which isn't spur of the moment at all. lol.

I thought I was just being paranoid. Do you think that could be it? That he's just not interested?

Yes, I do. I'm sorry... but I do. I've been there and it sucks. But you need to know.

That was my immediate reaction. That it was just a waste of my time.
But he always sends these really sweet apologies. And says how sorry he is and how much he misses me.
It's confusing.

Well if he's really that sorry... wouldn't he be making it up to you instead of just keep cancelling again? I'd stop checking my phone and let him come to me. If he wants to make plans... OK. But if he doesn't follow thru, move on.
