This is the map of possible Sundown Towns. You click on your state.

In the 60's and 70's I lived In Seattle Wa. and a nearby suburb Federal Way..... there were all colors of people in the schools i went to ... I found this, Buttons. There are other sources that say that Seattle was one. I didn't know that my city was one either. http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2007/01/eliminationism-in-america-vii.html i live in a small town, (mostly hispanic), and i know better than to walk around at night, does this count the other way around?? |

When I lived in Georgia, there was a town just down the road from me (Oprah did a show about it a number of years ago) that used to have a sign at the beginning & end of town which read: N!gger...don't let the sun go down on your black azz. This was just 30yrs ago! I found it appalling!
Even today, their attitude is deplorable! I could tell you some stories...just because I chose the only black woman in town to be friends with. People suck! |

This is the list of Alabama.
Arab Chickasaw Cullman Cullman County Dixie Fyffe Good Hope Hanceville Hokes Bluff Nauvoo Oneonta Orange Beach Sand Mountain Vestavia Hills West Point West Point Winston County I can say that this is FALSE. I live in Cullman County, the city of cullman, my son goes to daycare in another town on the list and it just isn't possible. I don't think one on that list would qualify. Sorry. |

People suck! That was the sign that I was referring to. I was shocked and appalled too. I never knew that such a thing existed. |

There are small towns like that in the south. They're predominantly black and as a Causcasian you get some funny looks if you walk into a black owned establishment. Unfortunately there's prejudice and racism in every race. The news media only seems to bring to light the white/black issue. I've met my fair share of blacks that are prejudice to whites, just as I have met whites prejudice to blacks. It's unfortunate in this day and time. |

The town I live in is on that list... wow does that need to be updated. The ones surrounding me are on the list too and none of them would be a "sundown town"

I don't think it means, necessarily, that they are one today. It could be including the past. |

It's weird that it would list like 5 or so cities on my list and the county they are all located in. Think they just thought that it would be like that. lol |

I read that Sundown Towns have been illegal in the United States since the 1980s. They did peak in the 70s.
But..I heard on the news that some are still that way but not on paper. |
