Have fun bashing guys. I really did not put this up as a persuasion piece or as a debate. Simply as a thank you note. I'm sorry you cannot accept it as such and feel you have to denigrate my views. best of luck to you that's the way it is here. If you don't parrot their party line they will atack you and your posts |

I personally didn’t denigrate one dam thing. I am a supporter of President Obama. I asked that even if you are some kind of right wing conservative type that you still acknowledge his presidency and the historic moment it is in our nation's history.

I asked that even if you are some kind of right wing conservative type that you still acknowledge his presidency and the historic moment it is in our nation's history. No you did not, but some others became very hateful. We ALL understand that this election is historic, especially those of us who grew up during the Civil Rights struggle. I have no problem with that. I teach urban school children and also know how much farther we have to go, how much of Martin Luther King's dream has been realized, and how much has been forgotten by the current generation. My whole lesson for my music classes on Friday was on Martin Luther King, protest music, and the fact that they will have many presidents in their lifetime and it is up to them to make responsible informed choices. Again, this piece was not about President-Elect Obama. It was about the man who is still President until tomorrow when we have the American miracle of a peaceful transition of power. |

What has happened to respect in our country? Why does the very mention of this man's name bring such hatred and yet the mention of an inexperienced, waffling, please everyone and stand for nothing junior senator from crooked Chicago brings veneration? I wish Mr Obama the very best because I was raised to respect the office of the Presidency. I hope he will be able to live up to the incredibly lofty expectations he has raised. What is interesting is one didn't appear to be listening in the last 8 years. You go on to ask what happened to respect, and to say that you were brought up with respect, then you immediatedly slam Obama for inexperience waffling and influenced by crooked Chicago. Yes, we read between the lines. One seems to miss the many things that Bush did to our country that does NOT make us safer or free-er... And one seems unwilling to acknowledge those in her own party that have done things to bring us to this economic and social anxiety. It's always those 'other' people, certainly not the good god fearing conservatives, heaven forbid. I don't think that works anymore... I was taught that respect is earned. You don't get to insult the intellegences of the people you govern, then get respected. Reminds me of Palin, she wanted respect, but then dissed half of america calling them unpatriotic and unamerican. If that is what it means to be respectful..... |
