well since you know now
why dont you tell us

tell you what how the norms change, thats generational and open to the public and it views the topics and incidents that we call norm or insane

If everyone walked around talking to imaginary people next to them then it would be considered norm since we do not do that as a norm in society it is considered insane

Sorry misunderstood but no i was not a 17th century norm to have pre-marital sex. Virginity was considered an asset towards marriage and to marry off a daughter without her virginity was extremely expensive!!

as was quoted (supposedly) by another, insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results

that is a good saying but you shouldn't give yourself away like that

If sanity is defined by what is normal i feel compelled to pass on this koan as it was onto me by my teacher.

" In a world of abnormalities who or what defines what is normal?"

just a thought to consider.....spock

Insanity is a legal referring to one of two things:
1. Did not know right form wrong when committing the act
2. Is unable to understand what is going on and assist in their own defense.

Informally, in therapy insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and each time expecting a different result.

I don't think that a person who does something that appears to be insane is necessarily clinically insane, it may just be a momentary lapse of reason. Its those who do not recover from these momemnts, or bounce back ,or realize the error of their ways that are insane and need help.

Well, yeah, in therapy, we have to use words technically and correctly and we don't call people crazy or insane.
