Why get married? At this point, I see no good reason. Not one. |

it's a symbol of your undying love for the person you are married to. but i think most women just do it for a new dress and a diamond.

Because...........
I want ownership and the key to his heart and the paper to back it up. I want the Godly marriage and that includes making it known to the world. |

Marriage was established to ensure survival of the bloodline in wealthy or noble families. To have the family name live on in posterity. It also ensured that the wealth stayed in the family, through the descendants.
If one was poor or had no noble lineage, there was no reason to get married. However, some cultures, societies, family traditions/customs, and Judeo-Christian values promote it, expect it. Will tolerate or accept nothing but. Others feel it validates or makes a visible, concrete "mark" signifying the commitment or depth of that love. It signifies belonging. Mainly, I believe in marriage for the last reason I mentioned. However, societal/cultural/family/religious influences have played a large role in shaping my comfort zone, as well. |

it's a symbol.... Exactly, a symbol or mark. Visibly, upon the body - and spiritually, upon the soul. |

The bridal shower is a remnant of the dowry.

I want ownership and the key to his heart and the paper to back it up.... Unfortunately, these symbols and marks cannot guarantee that it will last forever. There are no guarantees. |
