why do you look at their profile if they have no picture? arent you the one wasting your own time?

The reality is that 99% of all profiles on dating sites are wastes of time either way -- pic or no pic.

"I don't know what to write here" is not a turn on, even with the best pic in the world....

It's a written medium. If people are interested in being taken seriously, they can at least write something better than "I don't know what to write here" or "I'll fill this out later" or "Anything you want to know, you'll have to ask."

Laziness is not attractive. An inability to write three coherent sentences about oneself is not attractive.

Unless you really don't care if you're contacted by horny illiterates and submorons, it makes sense to me to put something useful and relevant into one's profile.

The fact that few bother to do so tells me how serious they are about meeting someone -- or it tells me everything I need to know about their intellectual status.

Either way, it's a waste of time to deal with them.

I like it when guys have something in their profile but I dont expect much from guys my age.

It's OK -- this is just one of those ongoing problems that I like to complain about 63 times a day for no reason (although it's good typing practice).

There's a thread on here called One Glorious Profile which myself and several others have been using to display actual profile material we've found on other sites -- and they're SO bad, they're funny. And we add our own little commentaries, too.

Seriously, I look at Mutual Match profiles every day, and I swear that everyone within 250 miles of me is using the exact same profile -- and it's not a good one, either....!

I am only 21 so i dont have all that much life experience to write about. I could write about skateboarding and hanging out at the beach but that would bore people. So far most guys emailing me ahve not even read my profile. I get the urge to make up something exciting but then I wouldnt be able to really meet anyone without exposing myself.
I think I will look for the "one glorious profile" thread and i hope my profile from cs is not on it.

None of the ones I've used are from cs but I can't tell you where the other posters got theirs from!

I hear this from a lot of women, that they get e-mails from people who never bothered to read their profiles. I don't understand the thinking behind that. I would want to know something about the person first.

One of the reasons my own profile is 1882 pages long is so I can use it to "screen out" the ones who really shouldn't be writing to me anyway. It gets a lot of views and a fair amount of commentary, but everyone reads at least part of it before they write to me (or so it appears).

Pictures are important I will go along with that, yet I find the statment that a person that doesn't have a picute up may be wasting your time. I have found that I am more attracted to a person's word, how they articulate who and what they are than a picture. I myself, have 2 new ones I plan on posting as soon as I get my scanner working. I myself, don't believe I have really changed all that much in the last 10 years, My hair longer but maybe a few more fine lines I call laugh lines but nothing else. I am one that absolutely hates to have my picture taken. So it is a rare moment.

On profiles, I know mine is mine, the grammar mistakes, hopefully not spelling, and the punctuation are all mine. I also believe a profile is just a taste if you will of that person. I know mine just shows a bare glimpse into who I am. I figure if they want to get to know me they can email then the dance can begin of getting to know one another.

Oh yes, the hat nose mouth combo sure does show us who you really are.....

Yes but it is so simple when and if you are going to meet Set up a webcam gee you have live feed of the person. I am just saying that a picture is the least of my concerns when I am interested in a person.
