It’s mighty fine I see your pride as you Declare ‘It’s mine!” And give a guided tour Making sure That your tourist Can look but she Can’t touch … It’s just too much The way you’ve Thrown a little paint on And filled the air With the sweet scent Of your cologne While you stand alone Trying to drown out The echoes Of your former guests As they ring through The hollow halls Echoing off those Empty walls Lost voices From the past … It’s been years Since you’ve shared Those four walls With any other Inhabitant or A tenant who Would help you Decorate Help create A décor That would only Radiate The warmth Of a loving Shelter Rather than The empty Monument Where you’ve Hidden yourself Safely from The masses … But you know It can’t stand Much longer Loneliness Is so much Stronger Than the fragile Tenement You’ve built … Without the Proper support Even the most Seemingly strong Foundation Will fall when There’s nothing To support it Those walls Will crumble Falling down To the ground Around you Leaving you With nothing To hold onto … So while You may have it All prettied up And glorified The windows are its Lonely eyes Which even closed Can’t hide the lies Behind your Front door Splintered by a Truth you Can’t hide from Anymore … Empty houses Are not homes … They are Simply … …Empty Houses…. He could get all prettied up, but he wasn't very welcoming. I got it- pretty exterior, looks good, but don't touch or mess up. So proud of what he thinks he is that serious consideration of someone invading or sharing his space and the front door closes. |
