OK! time for my two cents worth on gun control. I have a big BIG passion
for firearms and strongly support guns NOT control especially for women
and our safety. Being put into a very scary position in my own home one
night let me say if it had not been for my 38 snub nose I would have
been the victim of a violent crime, raped, beaten, or murdered. Every
woman should open her mind and common sense and at least consider owning
a firearm for her safety. Guns do not kill people. People do. I believe
also that there would be far less violent crimes commited against women
if more would own one. If your afraid to pick one up then do NOT own one
but for those who are level headed and able to defend themselves then by
all means just trust me. I can say my gun saved my life that
night. flowerforyou

guns were manufactured for killing........

i don't care what the laws are or if they change or don't change .......

My concern is to not split hairs, it will not solve the problem,

of an object that is designed to kill.

I don't understand this fixation with guns...

My understanding, at it's most basic level...

Once upon a time...we had rocks, then sticks, then clubs, then spears,
then arrows, then knives, then guns, cannons, nukes, tazars,(sp?),
chemical, and bacterial weapons....

What's next???

And why??? I may not be the brightest bulb in the box, but it seems to
me the threat of violence, begets violence..

For me personally, if you project it, you will manifest it..

I refuse to live in fear...of perceived violence..

Diane you know I love you,
A big knife or any object that you scan for ......will work too.

I was taught when you go to bed keep something by your bed in case of
intruders....

never needed a gun....

Never will.......

it is an object to kill .....

as I said I don't care what the laws are but none are working and
stats/....... are a dime a dozen.......hugs.

I am so relieved for you that the situation you were in did not end in
violence towards you..

I also have been victim to a 'home invasion' type incident, well, a few
over the years..

And no, I didn't get off so lightly, the outcome was violent, and had
impact on my world for a long time.

Did I feel at anytime a gun may now prevent that from happening again,
no.

It is only for me I speak of, and certainly am not condemning others
their decision to have a gun to give them a sense of personal
security...I am not saying you are wrong..

For me, I refuse to live in fear...and for me, to own a gun, or another
weapon of sorts, to have them beside my bed, is to admit to fear.

In self defense courses, I was taught, any weapon that you have, be
fully prepared to have it used against you...I never forgot that, for
me, my best line of protection, is to not live in fear...and I don't. As
previously stated in my earlier posts, my doors are always open,
unlocked, day and night, as we sleep, I do have a dog, who can and does,
alerts me to any out of place happenings here, I have a phone, and I had
a fierce belief in my right to living without fear...

All I am saying is it works for me, and I do not understand the
mentality to be ready for violence, to live in fear of it happening,...I
am not saying it is wrong...I just don't understand it.

I am constantly leaving my keys in the front door..i refuse to be afraid
also because i know some of the worse violence comes from those who
supposedly love you and take vows to cherish you..

Yes. Guns are a killing tool. But they are also tools of intimidation
and power.

Humans will ALWAYS seek to kill one another- if we ever get to the
point where our species, for whatever reason, is incapable of posing
violent threat to one another- then I doubt we'll be human anymore.

Guns are tools. It is how a tool is used that determines its value. The
same technology that will one day cure all genetic diseases- could also
be used to make a virus that would eliminate the entire species.

And the best way to protect yourself- always has been, always will be-
is to make sure your oponent knows that he could die in the process.

Knives can do this. Guns do it better.

And of course, the SECOND best method to protect yourself is to kill
the person who wishes to kill (or, perhaps, rape) you.

Knives can do this, too. Guns STILL do it better.

Guns aren't the only method. They're the best method. At least for any
scenario where you've not been trained extensively in another method.
And not many people can, or should be expected, to dedicate years to the
honing of their combat prowess to that degree.

nope dont think gun control is the answer maybe better education people
on guns an what they do an how to use them . dont take away our guns so
that the only people owning one will be the criminals wouldnt that hurt
us badly.

In my opinion...

the only effective method of gun control is to raise a generation that
does not need them.

Until (or IF) that is possible we must be able to defend ourselves from
the wolfs. If wolfs have teeth we must have them also.

Ever notice on those discover channel specials a predator going after
another predator. Nope, they prey on the week and avoid the strong.

On that, I'll disagree. Firearms in the uneducated is not a good plan.
No more than allowing people to drive without proper training is.

And if you want something that needs better regulations- it's vehicles.
We lose more people to idiots behind the wheels than any gun usage
(including wartime deaths) in the same amount of time.

Guns are nothing compared to cars. Not even a blip on the radar screen.
Why aren't we making it illegal for everyone to drive? It'd save far
more lives.

And I dunno. Predator-on-predator violence happens. Check out the Cobra
and Mongoose. Which we can appoint as our predator laureate for the
police, I think.

you.

living BY the gun. i dont care who dont want a gun, just dont tell me i
cant have one and im happy. you might be damn glad someones packin if
your ever in mickydees when a gunman shows up someday. while your

Mongoose is protecting his territory. Normally the two will avoid each
other.

Only time I have seen a mongoose/cobra battle was when man interferred
and placed them in an enclosed space or when the natural situation gave
neither a chance to avoid.

Actually, the mongoose is known to eat cobras. Yes, they prefer easier
meals. But they'll do it.
