I used to think that "looking for an activity partner" was the same thing as "intimate encounter". Now I'm not so sure. Can someone explain to me what the difference between the two is?

I think it means just someone with whom to share time in mutual enjoyment of events which are not assumed to have any romantic or sexual connotation.

That's sort of what I was thinking it meant and I was gonna change my profile to that, but then I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea if it wasn't what I thought it was.

That's a tough one, I'm not sure either, it may mean someone to go out & actually do activities with, hiking, bowling etc.

Makes me wonder though, if that's what it really means, why aren't there more people who aren't really looking to get serious choosing that?

I would say an activity partner would be someone to go out and do various activities with. Activities that have nothing to do with sex.

They should change it to companionship, that's what I miss the most

I would say it would be that you are looking for someone with the same interests. I would like to meet other people near me, male and female. It would be nice to have someone to go out to coffee with.

I believe you can put "looking for intimate encounter" on your profile which to me means just sex...not drinking coffee or fishing. lol

For me it means I'm not pursuing anything other than friendships. Finding that right woman is really 4th on a short list of goals.

People will get the wrong idea no matter what you say.

As few have said above, "activity partner" means no sex. But be advised, that those who seriously involve themselves into "activity" with their partner, will end up having sex, and those who will seriously involve themselves with "intimate encounters" will end up having an "activity partner".
