I have some male friends that coincidentally just happen to all be dating or shagging up w/ women who have nothing going for them, have no jobs, er and just appear to be using them...
The guys take care of them, letting them take their money to use on who knows what..
Men talk about wanting someone with brains, smarts, good jobs, not so needy, blah blah blah, and yadda yadda yadda. So why do they date the opposite?
I just hate to see ANYBODY being taken advantage of, like this, but of course you can't say anything. Believe me I have, and them being men still don't see what I am talking about. I'm just trying to understand why. Can you help me?

I don't get it either! I pay my bills and take care of myself and my son. Yet, I see guys hooking up with gals that don't have a job, education, etc. I would like to know why also!

Your friends may feel that settling for these types of companions beats the alternative of being alone and really working on finding the person that is more compatible and self supporting. Some people really can not handle being alone at all.

I did this several times myself, when I was younger and quite a bit stupider.

The basic impetus behind it was that I've always had something of a "rescuer" complex, and it felt good to have someone to take care of.

Of course, it always degenerated into a "user" situation and ended badly -- or I would end up fixing her problems and she would decide she didn't need that particular arrangement anymore (although, in all honesty, they did tend to come back every time they had subsequent problems in life).

I've learned a little since then (hopefully) and won't be making that same mistake in the future.
