I think I have been suckered into a hoax by someone who seems very very plausible. It's made me feel extremely stupid, and obviously I must be one of those vulnerable, lonely, middle-aged women that you often hear about but never consider yourself to be. I would be really interested to hear from anyone who has had any dealings with a profile on this site from a man calling himself (sorry I now realise I can't enter a name here because of the rules). I'd like to compare notes about what you have been told and to see if you feel it is a scam/hoax profile. I'd like to warn other women to beware.

More to the point, what did he do to make you think him a hoax?

While I feel for your situation (and I don't know him), naming names in a post like this is against the rules. I think this post will probably be pulled.

If you'd like to tell me privately what happened, shoot me an e-mail. I'm pretty good at spotting scammers and players, I might be able to give you some insight. flowerforyou

Might want to read the rules before posting something of this nature.

Blimey I'm impressed with how quickly my opening post got attention.

Thanks for pointing out the rules folks.

I've edited the post to take out the name - however I am not trying to spread gossip or devalue this site in anyway - but to warn other users that there are some awful scammers out there.

maybe before saying other people are fake you should try having a profile worth looking at, and if you really wanna delete your profile, its simple, go to my account then to settings and it says deactivate my profile, click on that seeing how thats all your profile says, thats probably what you should do!!!

I did take my profile off (deactivated my account) because I really thought I'd found "the one", but I had to reactiveate to start a forum topic - therefore sorry mine was blank.

It's happened to most of us. It happens on the Internet, it happens in day to day dealings with people... and well, it just happens.

It's terrible thing, but hopefully you will learn from it. I know I did.

Probably an antique collector in nigeria, with a sick child, etc.

Not quite - address in UK, sick father just rushed to hospital, but had to change the date he was supposed to be coming to visit me on the 11th of this month because last minute change to business deal meant that he had to rush today back to his base in South Africa (it was Oman originally) because he had to go back to a job in the Niger Delta (which he said he'd never return to) and then he'd be coming to me on the 13th instead for 3 weeks (which we hadn't ever discussed - originally it was a one week visit) but he said that he had made the changes to his resevation at a local hotel. However when I spoke to the hotel, they'd never heard of him nor had they any reservations or enquiries for January, let alone the 11th or 13th. Plus he said he had two daughters one called Sarah and the other Lizzy, but this morning their names suddenly changed to Sandra and Milly. I had one mobile number for him when he was sent to Nigeria but that doesn't work anymore and the two that are supposed to be in the UK, he never answers but another man does with one of them and says that "J***) is out at the moment but will be back in half and hour. I think it's a scam

Are you serious with this?

I think the problem might be oxygen deprivation.... you know the strangling of the red flags that are tied to every appendage and around your neck, over your eyes....
