thinking u can change someone is a mistake i think doesnt work very often. but it depends on the person there are those who have real chemicaal imbalances but there are those who just live in the negative. it drives me nuts! I think failure also causes negativity when people fail at things they look outwardly instead of inwardly which is probably where the problem is.

Yes, for 6 years! You either live with it or move on. Forget trying to change them, tried for 6 years.....no luck. Glass still half full and cracking.

Get out quick...don't waste your time they will bring you down.

Or take them to your dungeon...

With self esteem like that you should be able to brake 'em in a day or two.

J/K, really ^_^

I have a friend who's very negative. (clinical depression) I've had to distance myself from her. Until she makes the effort to help herself, there's not much I can do besides get worn out trying to cheer her up. ohwell

Have you ever thought of letting her work it out on her own, unless she asked for help? flowerforyou

Well, that's part of the problem right now. She's been relying on me, and other friends, for emotional support and advice when she should be turning to her therapist & psychiatrist. She needs to listen to the professionals and act on their advice, not ours. I've encouraged her to talk more to her therapist & check with her psychiatrist on if her meds need adjusting. Just had to take a step back after that. I felt like I was becoming an enabler and that's not going to help her. Or me.
