Texting continues but she finally wants to get to know me better in the middle of the movie... so think texting / talking-

Woah, I missed that the first time around. That would've been a huge problem for me, one of my major pet peeves. I hate people talking during movies, I've gotten up and moved seats before because they wouldn't quiet. You showed amazing patience tonight.

My older brother was dating a gal a few weeks ago who was 19 & he's 29. I don't see her pic on his myspace anymore so I guess that went sour.

Right now, I'm with a gal who's five years older & so far it hasn't been an issue. First time I've dated someone older.

I think age is a factor since being on the same maturity level is important.

If I dated anyone more than ten years younger, I could go to jail laugh bigsmile

as rare stated if the attraction and all is there,I would go for it.age really isnt to big a deal,it just depends on how mature the 2 our.I know some that have a 20,22 25 year difference, there married and happy as can be.

Age doesn't produce maturity in the individual.
You could find a 19 year old who had the mind and class of a 40 year old. And you could go out with a 40 year old and find her acting worse that a 16 year old..
Its all in their personality, not their age.drinker

ABSOLUTELY, the age gap matters! It's not just an age gap, it's literally a generation gap. The things a younger person does today, an older person like myself cannot relate to (at least, from my own standpoint). It's two entirely different worlds. There's no way in hell I would date somebody that much younger than myself.

Yeah age does really matter if u want someone compatable... try five years up and five years down. but the five years up can be tricky cause im starting to think not everyone is honest with their age. im 40 so people in their 40's seem more likely to fib on there age. i got e-mailed by one lady and she said she was 45 and after looking at her picture i thought wow am i really in this age group, and grandchildren? big eye opener for me. but u must not have a teenage daughter cause once u do attratction to young ladies goes right out the window at that point. good luck man!

Women in their 40's being grandmothers is not all that unheard of. Think about it (no pun intended)....if she's 45, knock off 20 years. That makes her 25. She had a kid. That kid is now 20 years old and possibly had a kid of her own. Not that unusual.

Ok simple question but i'll tell you why i'm asking.

tonight broke one of my rules and went out on a date with someone that is 21... 13 years younger. My normal standard is no less then 10, but she seemed nice and muture - ok fine she was also cute as hell...

Night started with me waiting an extra 30 minutes while she got ready (her mall trip with her friends went long lol.) no big deal wasn't on a time limit so figure whatever.
Next came the texting though dinner, which she informed me was just her friends asking questions about our date... ok but 50+ texts? Put the blackberry down for a sec.. PLEASE.
Then the movie.. Texting continues but she finally wants to get to know me better in the middle of the movie... so think texting / talking- then came the popcorn fun. For some reason ( to be cute i guess) she kept throwing popcorn at random people and the movie screen- not once but a dozen times or more.
Lastly end of the night and i get the.. so you coming back to my place to hang out? Needless to say i'm home early. Even cute has its limits.

So.. is it the age thing or just me finding out she is not as mature as i thought she was.
Lately dates have been with people 24-31 and havn't ever had these problems.

Stick to 10 year buffer?
Or try again and take my chances?

I think you should listen to what you wrote babe. You've answered your own question. Now the older you get the differences aren't as obvious .. at least not to me.

I date guys up to 25 years younger than I am. Actually my last BF of 3 years was 27 years younger than me.

I LIKE younger. And I kinda like the young behavior .. actually really like it but they aren't 'stupid' young like what you just dated.

Draw your own conclusions ..

well I have 5 kids and still no grandchildren and heck I'm 58. I also think not having the grandchildren has kept me a bit immature (I'm certainly not complaining) .. I'm still raising kids at home anyway .. will be for 4 more years
