Breastfeeding any child over the age of say 2-3 is kind of weird to me. But to each their own. I couldn't do it. I did with my son for the first six weeks, after that I felt like I was a prisoner so I stopped. Pretty selfish of me, but I tried. The 1st month is most benificial for antibodies. You did good! I nursed my daughter for about 2 years, it worked for us. She simply weaned herself gradually & naturally. I admit it was frustating at times, especially when she fussy or I was busy, but I would not have done it differently. I wanted to do it til he was two, but at least I did what I could. I admire you for doing that. If i have anymore I definatly will til at least 2. |

Personally it doesn't bother me except for when I'm at work. I'm in law enforcement and a lot of women use it as a sympathy tool just before I/we arrest them. THAT annoys me. um, why do you arrest breastfeeding women? Probably because they broke a law that didn't INVOLVE breastfeeding, would be my guess. That would be my guess too. Just because you have milk, doesn't mean you can't smoke crack or even worse. |

Well now we are dipping into my specialty. I teach breastfeeding classes and coach moms on getting it right. Breastfeeding is very important and every baby deserves to at least be given a chance. Yes they still need to breastfed after they eat solid foods. There are always immunological benefits to breastfeeding. Even past 1yr.
The world average age to wean is 4 so that means there are some older and some younger. Usually the US is what brings that average down. I think to each his own and if it is something that is making a baby healthier then thats awesome. |

because of stigma here in the states, I was actually embarrassed to breastfeed Nicole outside of our home. Which led to her always being so small till I started to incorporate formula.
she was weaned at 6 months because I had no choice. I "ran out" of milk cause we had always been out and about and I was afraid to breastfeed her. the looks people would give me when I did try were so horrifying to me that I would get nervous and my milk wouldn't flow. American society can be so cruel sometimes. |

I just saw this show ( I think on 20/20) last night about women breastfeeding their kids til age 6-8 yrs old. I dont care if women feed their kids in public but I would NOT want to see a kid older then one getting feed. It creeps me out my sister many years ago dated a guy where his sister was still nursing her daughter at 5yrs old... the mother should put her foot down when the child turns 1 or before Crazy people .I may understand (not accept) a bottle of milk at 5 years old but breast feeding NO WAY Im still nursing at 55, whats the big deal |

I was only 22.
I have yet to finish having babies, but because of that incident, I am actually afraid to breastfeed, period. I did, however, pump for my nephew who was a preemie and I had JUST given birth to my surroson a few months after my nephew got out of the hospital from the NICU. |

The child I bore around the time I started pumping for my nephew wasn't mine and never received my milk due to his parents, um, idiocy? I wanted my surrogate son to receive my antibodies and immunities which I KNEW his family wouldn't have cause they were fresh from China, but they refused. Oh well, at least my nephew got them! |
