Usually all CD or DVD Rom player have a little hole in front just in case the tray gets stuck. Use it to open your drive and take out the CD/DVD out of there.

It won't fix your player if it is broken but you'll be able to retrieve your disc out of there.

I am on my iMac at the moment. I put in a disc, and right click on the icon associated with the disc inserted. There you will find the "reject" command...just click on that. If that don't work, then it could very well be a physical issue.

Hope that helps.

here are a couple more answers to your issue I have:

#1
How to Eject a Disc When Other Options Do Not Work
Article ID 106752

You may use Open Firmware to eject a CD or DVD

1. Restart computer
2. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F
3. Release the keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware"
4. At the prompt, type: eject cd
5. Press Return, then wait a few seconds. The disc drive should eject any disc that is present, and "OK" appears behind the command when the action is complete.
6. Type: mac-boot
7. Press Return

Your computer should now start up normally.

And #2
Of course, you could always try the old "hold down the mouse button while booting" trick.
Good luck...let me know if these work or not.

I have an iMac. It's old in computer years (1999 or 2000 or so). Anyway, I'm not the worlds most computer literate person. I have several issues that I don't know where to go for answers or who to ask.

We have an Epson Stylus C82 as our printer. This thing sucks the ink like a car with an oil leak (have one of these also). Is there a printer (does NOT have to be color) that is more economical when it comes to ink? Haven't been able to print because it says the "yellow" catridge is out even though I'm trying to print in black....another $60 plus.......BS

Also, this computer came with a MAC OS 9 operating system & a MAC OS X. The OS X doesn't recognize the Stylus printer (OS 9 miraculously did) and when I tried to put in the CD that has the Stylus' specifications, the OS X says it can't read it or recognize it or something like that. Very frustrating, but to be honest, it's been over a year since I tried and I really can't remember the specifics (screen and warnings) of why it rejected the process of printer introduction. I just know it did.

Suggestions? I don't feel confident in Best Buy/Geek squad, but is the a service that's resonably priced that could answer my problems?

There's probably a site that would be right for your issues. I would suggest looking on Google, with search of "mac support"! That should lead you to some interesting sites.

1st thing that comes to mind on the printer, is to do some research on new printers w/pages output information, or estimated pages it would print on a normal cartage use. Then compare price.

Hope this gives you some idea in which way to find what your looking for.

Good luck,

John,

Appreiciate your help. I will take your advise. Takes me a while to research and act, but I plan on giving feedback when I get something accomplished.

Again - Thanks!

Make sure you have the printer driver for the C82 printer installed when you run MacOS X. They have a specific one just for that version of operating system. Check out this site:

As with the printer sucking ink, that's the norm with inkjet printers. Those are throw-aways. Sometimes its cheaper to buy a new one if its on sale. You also have to consider how much printing you do and if color prints are a must. If you can find a good deal, get a laser printer, monochrome or colored. In the long run it will be cheaper. I was lucky to find a discontinued model HP colored laser printer at Staples for 175.00 and got the 3 year warranty for 35.00 more. I ran it through my ethernet switch and then through my airport basestation. So now i can print from anywhere in the apartment. Hope this helps.
