A computer I took in on trade for something has an illegal windows xp on it and microsoft will not allow updates. Is there anyway to get around this?

Not really. Unless you can find a registry key for it, but you'd basically have to format and reinstall windows with a fresh key. Chances are any reg. keys you find online won't get past Microsoft anyway. You'd be better off getting a real copy.

I was just thinking that since I have other computers that there might be someway to fool them in to thinking it was one and the same.

Nah, each operating system on each computer has it's own registry key that is used when the operating system is installed. The updates are done via a built in updating program in windows. You can't download the update to one and transfer it to another. It's not like you're downloading a file and then just passing it on.

Simply install an XP pro with a corporate key. Just search for a "corporate XP serial" on google. I have found tons of working keys that way.

isohunt and thepiratebay will give you tons of keys, keygens and complete custom XP installs that don't need a key.

I wouldn't even enable to updates.

The only reason corporations are enabling the updates is because they would be liable if they didn't and something goes wrong.

Realize, that the only reason there are updates, is because Micro$oft needs to sell you their next operating system. So, with every update, they fix a little thing and break another thing. By the time Misro$oft is ready with their new OS, your's will already be canned. What a coincidence.

I can't give you my sourse, but recently arab guys completely hacked Micro$oft software warehouse, and so any kind of ever created MS operating system is now available as an iso. Look for it and you shall find it. Search for "sdc to iso".

Ubuntu is Linux but it is very much like XP.
On occasion you can find special software that defeats the copy protection but you have to look carefully and read the ads. they never come out and say they defeat the protection but the software is out there. It will usually come from the UK.

Their are a few ways to get around it, allthought it can be risky(Trojans)!!!.
You can find program downloads at "TURRENT SITES" but it hard to find a CLEAN download, that comes with the "CRACK-CODE!".

2# theres a site called Boot Disk.com you may like to take a look their. I believe that enought info for now.
