Topic: VA Tech Why? | |

And as someone who's actually strapped into full defensive kevlar once
or twice- the stuff just *feels* cool. So do guns, actually You strap about 40 lbs of bulletproof armor on, then lock-and-load a pair of semi-auto weapons, and you'd feel invulnerable. Confidence is the one thing this kid obviously never had. |

You do. And I have a tendency to get the first on a page quite a bit.
Go figure. |

The way that I think someone could do such things as the Va. Tech
(hokies whooo hokies whooo)incident, is like this: 1. Grow up in an abusive home enviorment 2. Suffer from depression 3. Develops a life of solitude in order to deal with mental problems. 4. As a result of 2 and 3 becomes some what of an outcast by peers. 5. Trys to send a signal for help threw actions or in this case writtings done in class. 6. The depression becomes sevier. 7. Decides to commit suicide. 8. Before commiting suicide kill those around you that you believe are responsible for you being an outcast. 9. Buy the equipment needed to do this. 10. Carry out the plan. In my personal opion I believe the boy that did this felt some kind of guilt after killing his first 2 victims in the dorm. He waited almost 2hrs until he went into the classrooms. I believe he went and thought about what he just did and realized that he was going to be killed anyways so why not go down in a blaze of glory. I lost my cousin to these tragic events and attended Va. Tech up till last year when I graduated. I would just like to say a quote I learned when I was at the school. "Now we are all hokies." Back when I first heard it at the school it just meant that I was finally in college and apart of something. Now it has taken on a whole new meaning. I feel that as a nation, with students from all over the country that passed away on that day, "Now we are all hokies." whooooooo hokies whooooooooo hokies. |

Ok. Try saying that again. Only this time- make it coherent. Just for
the sake of us who grew up reading english. |

I agree with that, the scary part is tho, I suffer from depression, am a "loner" and an outcast and tried to kill myself many times. The only difference is that I value other's lives just not mine. |

Poet, was this truly in response to the post immediately preceding it?
>>Ok. Try saying that again. Only this time- make it coherent. Just for the sake of us who grew up reading english. |

Of course. His "grammar" (and I use the term loosely) gives me a
headache. |

poet...your an a$$

Man, Ive talk about this for two days at school, every class, it has
stopped learning and teaching all the way down here. Its a sad thing, but ppl should get over it. Quit being babies, and little girls. Life goes on, ppl die, whoopee |
Yeah. Probably. If that's what it means to having standards and being
honest, then definately. |
Oh, sorry, I missed the standards and honesty, I only saw the lack of
respect for an opinion caused by grammar. |

Poet,
Did you think were witty? Les expressed himself well, I had no trouble understanding him. Do you lack some flexibility in your reading comprehension skills? I you keep mocking people who aren't up to your personal standards in linquistic ability, we may, as a community, miss out on the meaningful things those people have to share. Plus it makes you look like an a$$. |
Thats an abuse of the 'virtue of honesty'. Honesty doesn't justify
uncalled for disrespect. You claim to be a thinker, but you haven't realize that yet? |
And butchering the language is an act of disrespect in and of itself.
If and when I try and speak in another language- I do my best to get it right. Or admit I cannot and show the respect of keeping out of it. Or, if I really feel my opinion is valuable, I apologize for the shoddy technique. |
Thats you. Do you think everyone should be that way? That would bring
discourse to a grinding halt, and give a ridiculous biased preference for the ideas of 'language-anal people'. Trying to get it 'right' is fine, but dismissing the ideas of those who fail is absurd. And do you really think that justifies you previous comment? Or is no justification necessary, because in your world its just fine to mock someone after they are expressing something close to their heart? |
I asked him to rephrase the statement so it could be readily
understood. You're the one who read into it and drug everything to a halt. |
Judging from the past few posts, there are many parallels between what
you are I are doing here, we each seek quality discourse, we each have personal opinions about what that really means, and we are each seeking to influence others with our own opinions. >> I asked him to rephrase the statement so it could be readily understood. This strikes me as disingenuous. Lets be honest here, you were mocking him. There was no need for him to rephrase anything. |
There was if he wanted his post read and/or taken seriously by the
majority of people. The slang approach works well enough for 12 year olds playing with their cell phones. But we're supposed to be adults, here. I know I skipped right over his post. After the second line or so. Right about when my vision blurred out on me. |

So, where is the apology for this complete pile of illiterate rubbish? 1) Beginning a sentance with the words "and" & "or" 2) If and when I try and speak in another language- Nope this one is idiot English too. Try this. "If, and when, I try and speak in another language, I will do my best" I could go on. When you can write English as well as you purport to, then you will have reason to slate another's command of the language. Until then, I would suggest you keep your opinions to yourself. |
