They're using stolen funds (Taxation under threat of force) to develop "pain-beam" weapons to subdue productive people who have the misfortune to encounter uniformed parasites.

The research arm of the US Department of Justice is working on two portable non-lethal weapons that inflict pain from a distance using beams of laser light or microwaves, with the intention of putting them into the hands of police to subdue suspects.

ARe you saying there's actually tax money left to create "harmless" weapons? Will wonders never cease! I wonder how much this is costing, and wonder if those funds could not be better used, like to feed and house and educate those 'would be' offenders?

Actually, I've watched a few programs on this. This was meant for military situations. But the military doesn't really feel like it can afford to put very much money into the development of weapons that don't actually kill the opposing forces.

They (military minds) don't like the idea of non-lethal weapons.

Because the military is looking down it's nose at this, they are now looking at domestic applications that are safer than current methods of dealing with riots and mobs.

I remember when I was a cop and they came out with the rubber bullets. Those weren't so harmless. Anyway, those kinds of weapons are only useful for one thing.......crowd control and riots. I wonder what kind of riots they are expecting.

These sound like an improved version of tasers.

If such weapons can reduce violent death, then this is probably a good program.

It may be a good move. Maybe criminals, worried about actually hurting someone, will steal a few and use them instead of guns. ?????

Thats old news.The Styrkers that I used to work on have targeting lasers that emit high levels of radiation.If you happen to be standing in front of that laser it is going to pretty much guarantee you will be sterile for life.You can only see this laser at night with night goggles.The Army could sterilize the entire village and nobody would know.
