react if after getting to know some one you learned they had a serious disease? Would you stay with them or politely back away?

what kind of disease? and how solid is the foundation of our relationship? Because you cannot stay out of guilt or pity, but if you had the foundation and "love" yes then it would make no difference

I think it depends...I am not going to have relationship with someone that is hiv postive but yet if they have something that is serious but not contagious then of course I would stick around

How serious? and what type? My last was a bipolar, schizophrenic, multiple personality disorder. Warned me beforehand. Studied everything. Read everything. Discussed with her family. Went to her therapists with her. Promised I stick. She walked out one day without a word and remarried her ex-husband 3 weeks later. I'd give another BP/Schiz/MPD the same chance so . . . I guess I'd hafta say, "I'd stay."

It honestly depends on how I feel about the person. Either way I'll support them and help them, just how much depends on how I feel about them.

Didn't mention any specific disease. Have seen relationship end because of a variety of disease. Some folks seem only to want the "better" part and run away when a problem turns up.
