Just say no failed.

So, how is letting everyone know about all available options and letting them chose among those options shoving anything down anyone's throat?

Private...you are right...

If you know the facts you can make an intelligent informed decision.

I can see where the mere possibility of a thoughtful, intelligent and informed choice would be quite disturbing to some posters. Still to most people who don't need FOX news pundits and pastors telling them what to think and do being given all the facts and options and making their own decision and letting others make their own decisions is what's best.

Mind boggling to some I am sure but then again...oh...never mind...

I guess y'all didn't hear that Sarah Palin repeatedly supported sex education that includes information about condoms and birth control.

Guess her daughter didn't get that info.

Actually Bristol Palin did get sex ed. Either her choice of method did not work, or she didn't pay attention in class, or maybe she intentionally got pregnant. [shrug] At any rate that does not change the fact that Palin does not oppose teaching about birth control in school.

She believes in teaching abstinence.

True, and statistically abstinence education does help reduce teen pregnancy.

Why is it so terrible to teach abstinence education in addition to birth control?

I agree to teaching both. Palin doesn't.

Just because you two want to believe that Sarah Palin opposes sex ed regarding condoms, birth control pills, etcetra does not make it true. As a politician, Sarah Palin has repeatedly supported legislation to fund those types of programs. She has also supported funding for abstinence programs.

I still do not see why it is so evil to include abstinence education as one part of a diverse sex ed program, since doing so reduces teen pregnancy and STDs.

Since I am one of those "you two" I will answer.

I believe in the facts.

I also said that that I believe that abstinence and birth control should both be taught. I feel the child should know all options.

Since y'all do not believe me, I will link a story from CNN.

Sarah Palin: "I'm pro-contraception, and I think kids who may not hear about it at home should hear about it in other avenues. So I am not anti-contraception. But, yeah, abstinence is another alternative that should be discussed with kids. I don't have a problem with that," Palin said. Hers is hardly an extreme point of view in America today.

In that case, you agree with Sarah Palin.

I believe you have a say what is being taught in your school. It is a local matter and not a national one. You elect the school board of your school. If you disagree with whats being taught you have the right to pull your kid out of that class. I dont want the federal government telling me what to teach my child. All you have to do is get involved. I like having a say in what is taught my child. I will fight that fight every time. So if you disagree with whats being taught do something about it!!!!!

My child goes to a Lutheran school. The parents voted to not have sex education the year before my child started going there. I found out too late.grumble

Why is Sarah still discussed?

Because she is being shaped and packaged as a future candidate.

That is why her views and actions are relevant.

The Republicans would be nuts to ever make her a candidate again. When was the last time that a losing VP got a second chance? They are not going to put her up. Most importantly, I think that her "crimes" pale in comparison to what the acting VP did to make money of the war in Iraq with the Halliburton oil connection. He does not seem to be the same kind of easy target that she is.

I can understand why shes being discussed I just dont see why people are worried or even care what she thinks should be taught in schools. She doesn't have that power and even if she became VP she would not have that power. Schools are controlled by the local community!!! Yes you have control over your schools. That's one right I have I will fight never to lose.

flowerforyou To me people are arguing something that can not happen. Schools are governed by the local community and not by the federal goverment. The way it should be!!!!!
