Once will never do it again it ended badly since we both knew deep down that I was just settling. I think that more a more hurtful thing to do to him than cheating on him took me a long time to feel good about myself again.

Many times and always. It is time to take a step back, slow down, be more critical, and NEXT time, not to discount the feeling in your gut or intuition. Not to ignore, minimize, or make excuses for anything that is not acceptable. |

Yeah, but I was on a three day drunk at the time and I don't remember much till I sobered up, and then it ended badly.

I kind of think that you don't really "lower your standards". If you accepted them in the first place, that's your standard.

I don't think I lowered my standards but I have ignored my gut telling me what I knew was true and lived to regret it. This is sure what happened recently. I would say never again but then I don't want to let the ashholes of the world turn me into a person I don't want to be.

Nope. I tend to look for the best or good in everyone. However, when people protray themselves different from what they are you can't help that. From that I have learned to take time to get to know a person to truly know who they really are!
