Because I get the "followers" to think for themselves, and question the things they are asked to do blindly. I was "disfellowshipped" from the Boston Church of Christ in the late 80's because I started recognizing the stiffling practices they were putting on the brothers and sisters, and the illogical way they were twisting scripture to get poeple to give up their lifestyles (as well as their paychecks) because the "end justifiesd the means". After I left, I proceeded to drag about 20 members away from the BCC and helped them get their lives back together - without giving up on God. I have also dragged others away from Christian Science, and a couple of other legalistic pseudo-christian churches in Massachusetts. So my name was passed around the congregation, and I was "marked" (especially by the BCC).

Alexia-Great topic.
Wench-Thanks for bringing it back up. I was born Jewish, raised Jewish and am still Jewish. I am raising my son Jewish which is difficult living in the Bible Belt. I have studied other faiths, been to different services and for lack of a better term, Judiasm works for me. |
