I don't think is right to make oneself happy at the expense of others.

I ended up sacrificing more than I could handle. LOL, that's why I'm here. There is also the problem of some people try to please others so much they forget about themselves in the process.

Giving / service work is it's own reward.

pay it forward, and look at all to be thankful for, and that should make one fulfilled, no matter what the past brought, for we are eternal, and past wounds will heal.

I was brought up to always do the "right thing" for the people around me even strangers when the opportunity presents itself. I could never make myself happy at the expense of someone else (not part of who I am). I believe happiness comes from within, but there are times when a person goes through very bad times and if I can put a smile on someone's face (even for a little while) it makes me feel good too.

I can say I do not believe it's right to make youself happy at "anyone's" expense... BUT I would not sacrafice my happiness for anyone but my sons.

I try to do right by those around me that's a no brainer, I guess in some ways it may bring me happiness I never really thought about it.. I do the right thing by those around me b/c that is what you're supposed to do...

I held the door open earlier , for the guy behind me when i was walking into the outback does that count ?

ive been pondering my reply to this since i saw it..
and you always pick the deepest things that make me think..

i try to live a life of giving.. and i wouldnt deliberately improve my life at the sacrafice of others... or at least i hope i wouldnt..

but when push come to shove.. i cant tell you what i would do..

i prefer to think that i live a spirit filled life of giving and helping....

as i have 4 children.. my life is no longer my own.. i have given it to them. and i have sacraficed greatly for it..

I believe in doing everything i can to make someone smile and know they are being thought of. Case and point, my daughter and i were out running around one day, saw a guy who had a sign that said "homeless i'm starving" Whether he was or not, i don't care, so my daughter and I ran to the drive through and got him some food. He smiled and put away that burger like i have never seen someone eat before.

Well.. Im single and have no kids.. so yeah its about pleasing myself and making myself happy... although I do spoil my nephews.. and I have freely admitted to people before I haven't had my own kids because I am too selfish.. but who knows what the future will bring.. as for at the expense of others.. would that mean using people? not at all, I rely only on myself... and it does make me happy to spoil my nephews and neices.. but when I want to do it... then give them back to their parents..

I dont live to please myself alone. I want to please God and my children. I like making the people around me happy. I like helping strangers.

I cant make every single person happy, I realize that. and I do know that if I am personally happy with myslef and with my life that others benefit from that also. If Im not happy...its hard for me to make others happy. so I do put value on my personal happiness.
