I'm not even sure what that says, to tell the truth, it's barely legible English. However, surmising from the responses of others, it seems to me that you are the pot calling the kettle black, so to speak.

I've met several people from the forums in "real" life and am living with my wonderful, darling man, who I met here, in the forums, over a year ago. All of the people I've met face-to-face have been people I interacted with on the forums, not ones who just sent an e-mail or two wanting to hook up.

I've already answered the same exact question from Etrain. Read the post if you're interested, but I won't be doing a repeat posting for you as so many of you numbly do.

There is the idea that some sort of circumlocutory, peripheral gavotte is needed for people to size each other up -- reminiscent of the old cowboy movies where the two duelists circle around, hands ready to draw -- and it generally ends up the same, both parties either dead or wounded.

I think there is a level of "let's build up the other gender" that is insincere (if only because it's so unrealistically all-encompassing -- the reality is that "Why are all men great?" is no more accurate than "Why are all men pigs?") -- but it's easier to lump together than to see individuals as individuals, each flawed in his/her own way.

There's a sort of fervent desperation underlying this mentality -- it seems to me -- and it's just another take on "nice guy/nice girl." They'll like me if I'm pleasant/friendly/funny/complimentary/understanding enough, but when all of those things are presented solely for show, the effect is largely lost.

Real communication is a rare thing. People are too engrossed in building facades of cardboard.
