Topic: Money can't buy happiness

Wow....I am stunned.

I guess I am the only one on this thread that has figured out that lasting love and happiness has nothing to do with physicalities...(This includes money)

Sure, money is nice but, it has zero to do with being truly happy and content.

But, maybe I am wrong and people get tht peaceful feeling when looking into the eyes printed on a bill that I get when I see my woman's eyes...but, I doubt it.

Money has zero to do with being truly happy and content? So I take it you have no need for a job.. in reality.. You need money.. you can't survive with out.. I wouldn't be happy without my house.. which costs money.. I woulnd't be happy without my car.. which costs money.. and if there was a man who had none, Im not a golddigger.. but Im not supporting anyone either.. so the money matters...

Happiness is a decision that has nothing to do with money ... it is an attitude ... some of the poorest, most oppressed people in the world are still happy.

Money does buy choices for people though and opportunity ...

...to basics: food, shelter, clothing
...access to higher education and better paying jobs
...opportunities for wider ranges of life experiences

Those won't make you happy if you are a miserable person anyway ... laugh

Ok. But, since in a previous post, you also said that shoes and " stuff " make you happy, then having enough money to pay for the house, and the car...then it still wouldn't seem to be " enough ".

There is a big difference between having enough and being happy with what you have, and having enough but always wanting more.

Glad for the support and even the dissent of others...this is my point of context.....

I am deeply in love with a woman who I have loved for more than half of my life... 28 year to be exact...Finances are soley what led our paths of fate away...all these years later, fate brought us back together....

The very first subject broached was...the things we thought we wanted in our youths...the things we thought we needed...were not what made us happy. A simple smile. The taste of the one kiss. The feeling of wholeness with being with the one who we were always supposed to be with superceded things like that.

I am not talking about unemployed Hobo love here guys.....I earn money...she earns money....we don't love one another for our capitol potential...we love each other for love's sake. Put a price tag on that.

I haven't gone out and bought anything since July when I got my car.

I'm a dude so I have no need to go buy shoes....lol

I'll be getting a new set of golf clubs in the Spring, though.

I'm not saying that it's wrong to go out and buy stuff. What I AM saying is that having the money to go out and get that stuff is not the key to being happy.

Think about this. You go out and buy a new pair of shoes. You are happy with them....right up until you see ANOTHER pair of shoes. That kind of happiness is fleeting because it always leaves you wanting more.

there is no price on that and I doubt anyone will debate that.

but the original question was does money buy happiness. not does money buy love.

happiness and love do not always go hand in hand. not everyone who finds love so pure find such a happy ending or a stable ground. so regardless to you and your love's relationship ... and its purity and so on...

does money buy happiness?

its an eternal debate.

does financial status create/change a person's mental health...

That is what I meant with the " having enough and being happy with what you have " comment.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting " more " unless it becomes the driving force in your life.
