These "christians" baffle me.

I thought that we were adults here that debated without name calling. People that say things like that are the ones that make Republicans look bad.

On thread after thread no matter its subject matter or content the president, the war, the economic crisis, gay marriage, crime, health care...

Doesn't matter what the issue is their retort is always the same in the end.

Name calling, the assertion theirs is the only right and moral position and then the tried and true "because the bible tells me so" line.

This along with a stunningly consistent ability to ignore facts or proofs even when they are placed before them.

Even more disturbing are those that comment on threads without even reading the posts.

To them I say this. Cling to your prejudices, hatred and limited thinking all you want and post it all please. Your true colors show. Your pathetic meanness shines through.

I thought I lived in America, but lately I am not so sure.

Gays are gay not stupid. A gay couple would teach their adopted kids the same way a straight couple would where kids come from. A person born gay would be able to love a person of the same sex, of course, but having sex with them might be an issue.

The church can't stand this issue, they of course would prefer it be a choice, that way they can claim that they can be cured, changed, saved from themselves.. ugh If proved they are born gay that would cause the bible to be one again suspect. Cant have that now can we.

Some gays very well might be born that way. Some, like me made that conscious choice as an adult. I was abused by family members as a child, in a supposed god fearing family. Then treated poorly by males when I was in my twenties who didn't understand the word no, didn't understand that women could support themselves, didn't understand that women could have friends with out sleeping with them, didn't understand that a woman might prefer not to serve you diner every single night just because she is the woman, and on and on. I never needed much of an excuse to choose women, because men gave me so many not to choose men.

I chose women because I prefered to be treated as an equal, something that most men still haven't gotten a handle on as of yet.

And for the very few that I have met that were willing to treat me as an equal, it was already too late but they remain my closest friends.

I imagine even if some old homophobic dude in the bible was proven wrong about gays, most radical straights would find some other problem with it. For others it's Probably the ick factor.

But I dont' think they realize we all have ick factors. I find straight sex pretty icky but I don't tell my straight friends they shouldn't be having it.

I am also celebate.. Please Thomas, don't faint.. I have been for 30 years. I can live and have lived very happily for that many years with out sex, and yet I still consider myself gay. I have had a partner in life for 25 years. And yes a gay woman that remained committed to me despite the fact that I chose to be celebate. Now that is one special person in my book, and yet some or sorry to say most straights would deny me the same rights to marry the person I do so love, because their religion is against it. Never mind that religion should have nothing to do with it. Again, where am I living? America? Hmmmm

Personally that vote should not have been up to the people, to pit one group of americans against another, something the Right is very adept at doing. Lucky for us that it didn't work with the election this time. By the way, it was already decided in the court, but the Right couldn't have that, they wanted to be sure they could get it decided by the people. And yes according to the supreme court they have every right to try to overturn something that isn't right, Thomas, but then your not gay are you? So it's no skin off your nose what the majority wants.
