A terrible accident happened yesterday on one of our major highways
involving a 72 passenger school bus. A 10 year old little boy died of
head injuries. Had there been seatbelts in that bus, the boy would be
alive today.

Yes, stupid kids have to be strapped in, in cars.
Why not school bus, full of kids.
Oxymoron to me.
Was involved in the industry, schools don't want the xtra cost.

You've got that right oldsage. Again, it all boils down to the mighty

with all the bullsh*t that goes on i am surprised more accidents dont

Yes, I am all for seatbelts on school busses. Even if the drivers are
careful and ever watchful of traffic, there is always distractions
(usually from the kids) that could divert their attention, not too
mention some loonie azz "other" driver which is the great makings for an
accident/crashes.

Hi: I am absolutely for seatbelts in school buses or otherwise. There
have been way to many deaths because they do not have them. If cars
should have them, then it makes perfect sense that our precious cargo,
that they carry, should be protected as well. To me at least; it is a no
brainer.

some rides,,,,to lay over the whole bench seat,,,and air bags for damm
sure,,,,popping out of the rear of the seat in front of
them......

Yeah I agree, seatbelts should be on buses. There's no reason to deny
those children their safety. Everyone on a school bus is at the mercy
of the driver

Jefferson Parish and other parishes in Louisiana the school buses have
seatbelt, because that is the law. The transit buses don't have them
yet, and when they are in a small fender bender, there are large
lawsuits. So Buckle Up it is the law.

I do agree
There should be

But if you notice there is once set of laws for us common people but one
set for our Govenment.

We have to buckel our kids in every car they get in
But they say we are not spend the money to do so with
YOUR KIDS.

It's truth when you look at it.

I was actually thinking about this the other day when I took a picture
of a school bus. Thinking to my self why is it the law that children
have to be in a car seat, booster seat or what ever if they are in a
normal car but not on a school bus? I think the same laws need to be set
for both areas.

I honestly think they don't put seat belts in there just in case they
have to many students going on a trip. I believe they need seat belts to
protect our kids, yep you are right, money is the big issue.
My question is this, I pay for school books, where does that money go??
Take that extra money and put some seat belts in those buses please!!

Money should never be an issue when it comes to the safety of our
children.

I drove a school bus for 8 years. I'm for anything to protect the kids.
From my experience, I'd say it would have to be special equipment, or
there would have to be someone , teacher-monitor to keep them buckled
up. The driver has a hard enough time keeping them seated. I don't know
if having the children strapped in where they would have to be released
by the bus driver would be good....don't think I'd like that.

bus, it makes me cry!!
