Im pretty selective about the "Friend Request" thing on this site and I will only allow people on that I have either spoken with prior by private message or else I have witnessed them posting for quite some time so I feel I have at least a basic understanding of their position on various topics and point of view on issues.

Forget the IMs. That is the domain of lecherous men and I wont pick up those at all.

If you notice the title of this thread, it says 'Freinds.

If someone has been on your friends list for some time and you want to IM them or vice versa, What's wrong with that?what
Many people prefer the fact that IM is JUST that. INSTANT

Why does someone ask you to join their friends list and then decline to answer when you attempt to IM them?

huh grumble grumble grumble

I don't know. Why do people you have never had any contact with ask you to be friends?

When these friends have been on your friends list for some time, and you have actually exchanged a few emails. Maybe even spoken on the phone, you can't really call them random people.
That is the reason MOST people come to sites such as Mingle. Or are you just here to talk to random people you have never had contact with? huh laugh laugh laugh

YOU mentioned RANDOM people.
The people I mean are people who one has known for some time here. And they are ONLINE friends!
