Long history in my family for hunting, not for sport.I see no difference in harvesting food from my local wilderness. You go to grocerie and buy a animal that is packed with chemicals and growth hormones.
Note Words used Harvesting food..not sport killing

Great thread....Has more hits than the Bash Bush ones do in the political forum. Dont hate it, try and understand it. You will be a better person for doing so.

however much some people hate it, hunting is necessary. It's called herd management. The range scientist guys set the number that have to be trimmed from the herds every year. And the vary the limit and length of season accordingly

If it wasnt done the herds would grow too big for their habitat and the whole herd would suffer

yep

there's a town about 10 miles west of here that actually voted on allowing people to bow hunt in the city limits because the deer are so thick!.of course it failed to pass due to the danger to civilians.

in that same town a few years ago a deer jumped off of a 10 ft ledge and impaled a bike rider, killing him

I was in Maine when a hunter shot a little old lady. She was wearing white gardening gloves and he thought it was a whitetail

I don't believe in gun control but some people shouldn't be allowed near guns

The deer season is always interesting as bodies start to get found out in the middle of nowhere. Reduces the missing persons list which is gud.

I'm a hunter and conservationalist and enviromentalist. I've did more than any whining tree hugger there is has and have scars and accomodations from the state to prove it. When you've planted tens of thousands of trees, millions of wilfdlowers, and tens of thousands of wild produce you can talk. When you see a herd of overpopulated deer starving to death because of a bad winter and bring them alfalfa bales in your picup truck out of humanity you can talk. When your freinds and family are killed and injured in car/ deer collisions because those cute little animals crashed through the windshield you would understand. I'm in a T zone overpopulated area. Last year we had over 1000 car/ deer collisions in my county. I hit 4 deer in my new pickup truck last november. My collision was # 896. When the deer get overpopulated they starve, and get sick, and get susceptable to rare brain diseases and other maladys. I hunt for food. I feed my family. I feed the poor and underpriveledged. The hides go to hides for habitat. Hunting is conservation in my area. It is part of life. It is life. And it is respected. When you lose that perspective you've lost reality. There's an old man with a beat up old pickup truck in town with two bumper stickers- one on each side- that say it all. One says "HUNTING IS CONSERVATION" and the other says "ABORTION IS CESSATION". No truer words have been said.

My dad's a hunter, and he prefers the taste of wild game to anything store-bought, not to mention the fact that it is usually healthier too. I wouldn't care to hunt myself, but I don't see anything wrong with it, I certainly wouldn't want to deny my father that right.

I quail hunt and dove hunt. I dont have to get up so early for them

My grandfather was a Methodist minister and would'nt kill any animal. Not even for food. But I saw him shoot a .22 bullet off a fence post with one shot from about 50 yards. He could shoot better than anyone. But wouldn't hunt

I don't hate hunting, I just prefer not to. Somewhere along the line, I developed empathy for animals and hate to see them hurt or killed. Don't get me wrong, if I'm not the one doing the killing I will eat all the wild game I can. Plus my empathy is only in effect for large animals. I will shoot the crap outta some ducks, pheasant, or grouse. Shot one deer in life.....looked at it and thought about it's family. I haven't been able to since then.
