Religion has nothing to do with it.

Have to agree with Ruth, religion has nothing to do with it really

I've known some really nice people that didn't believe, or weren't sure, and I've known some that were supposed to be Christian but it only applied on Sunday.

Nice is Nice and Mean is Mean, it comes in all persuasions, beliefs and such.

Well put Sharp.

I have found that the warmest, caring people that I have met are those who have real faith rather than simply being 'religious'.

Religion is typically a way for man to pull God down to him, Faith is Gods way of lifting man up to him! just a personal belief, not trying to cram it down anyones throat!

Is there any question religious people are nicer than Atheists? You don't have to look to far to find your answer. There is hundreds if not thousands of Christian originations dedicated to making the world a better and safer place. The homeless missions, and food banks, are run by Christian churches.Christian originations help feed to poor, help pay rent, medical, and other related bills for poor and struggling families(if they come to the church for help).Christians travel the world bringing medical, dental, and build houses in third world countries. The Salvation army,Goodwill,St paul vincent, and other thrift stores donate their profits to charity orginations. After hurricane Katrina the majority of the survivors said the churches provided more support than any government run orgination.

What do Atheists do as far as community or worldwide involvement to make the world a better place? What programs do they offer? The answer is they don't do anything because they only care about themselfs. As a matter of fact they frequently try to shut down Christian programs(such as tent cities in church parking lots). They also succeeded in shutting down a Catholic orphanage in Boston.Even if the majority of the public votes on a issue(such as the current prop 8 issue)they still insist on having it their way. They simply only care about what they want!

Go to any Atheists anti Christian website and you will find Christian bashing to the extreme.Go to any blogs(such as this one or other sites)and read the paragraphs of hate towards Christians.Atheists(or as is most of one Atheist)often complain about Christmas and have succeeded in the removal of Christmas trees, lights, and other Christimas decorations from the town or city they live in.Saying "Merry Christmas" to someone in a publicly owned building will probably get you reported.

In my personal dealing with Atheists I have found that they rarely(if ever)leave tips after a dinner, think that stealing is ok since "the company has lots of money",and thinks that America is this evil empire that only wants to take over the world.

Atheists and Liberals I feel are destroying the fabric of America. They have brought much misery and caused alot of problems. There is no doubt in my mind(if they could get away with it)they would burn every church down in America.

Everything that comes from your keyboard on this forum makes me sick. It's obvious you just come on here to put people down that aren't your typical right ring nazi bible bangers. How can you even call yourself a christian? It's people like yourself that make me want to hate christians. I just have to keep reminding myself that theres a small percentage that aren't so judgmental and hateful.

Instead of calling me names and saying I am a Nazi maybe you could try to disputing what I have written. This is a place to debate and if you just want to insult me you are wasting my time because I have heard it before.

For the record I do not come here to put people down, bash Atheists or any other religion.Frankly I could care less who are what you believe in because I don't care what you do with your life.If I wanted to bash Atheists or other religions I would be calling you all kinds of nasty names and as you can see from my posts I am not doing that.People ask for my opinion and I give it to them. You don't like it...do something about it.

Do I like or hate Atheists any more than any other person. The answer is no.To me you are just one person out of billions. You show respect to me and I will show respect to you.But if you think you are going to come here and bash Christians, insult us,or otherwise try to twist the words of the bible to fit your own agenda you better expect some bashing back.I will not be silent.

Mark 6:6-11 Jesus was very surprised because those people did not have faith. Then Jesus went to other villages in that area and taught. Jesus called the twelve followers together. Jesus sent them out in groups of two. Jesus gave them power over evil spirits. This is what Jesus told his followers: "Take nothing for your trip. Take only a stick for walking. Take no bread, no bag, and no money in your pockets. Wear shoes, and take only the clothes you are wearing. When you enter a house, stay in that house until you leave that town. If any town refuses to accept you or refuses to listen to you, then leave that town. Shake their dust off your feet. This will be a warning to them."

Thomas,
There is no point in disputing you.
You are as prejudiced and judgmental as they come.
You stay in your corner and judge like you are God himself,
we stay in our corner and are happy, too.

If you call yourself a Christian, then I'm happy to say, I have absolutely nothing to do with what you believe to be Christianity.

Like I said in my last post I have heard it all before.I would rather someone dispute the main topic.

You were the one bashing all non believers for no obvious reason, maybe you should retrace your step and start anew.

What I said in my very first post still stands.

They come in all shapes and sizes, but you are one of the worst examples.

That is like asking "Are all blacks thugs?" That is a blanket statement that is unfair and too broad.

umm...I just said you put people down that aren't your typical right wing nazi bible bangers. I never called you a nazi. You do spew a lot of hate though, so if the shoe fits maybe you should wear it. If you don't believe me take a look back in your previous posts then check out a dictionary. Maybe then you can understand the real meaning of some of those words you use. I can't help responding this way when I see you blaming others for your own misery. Not only that you have called people of other religions evil. You have spoke of harming non believers and have even said how people should die because their political affiliations were not that of yours. If you didn't care what people believed you wouldn't respond that way. Practice what you preach.

Hmm, I don't know where you are getting these so called facts you're spouting. "The answer is they don't do anything because they only care about themselfs." That doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense...nevermind the spelling issue, but they have to do things. Everyone does things! School, work and breathing to name a few things that most everyone does.

I know a lot of non-believers and they leave perfectly fine tips and never steal from the companies they work for. Plus, I can honestly say that I know a few older and very religious people who are some of the stingiest people on the planet. I've had bad run-ins with people of other religions and faiths as well; who hasn't?

Needless to say, religion or faith probably doesn't make anyone a nice person. If you read the article and comprehended it, then you will have noticed that apparently some of the most faithless people on this planet are considered "nicer" then a lot of people who have strong faith or religious beliefs. The lower crime rate and murder counts were not mentioned in actual numbers, but that's what we were given to work with.

I hope that if you're going to continue debating in the feature that you'll at least get some solid facts and information-for instance a dictionary. I don't want to be rude but the word is OrganIZation(s)...not orginations (would someone please explain to me what an orgination is? Is it a musical instrument perhaps?)

From experience I have found that "religious" people act like they have some kind of protective barrier around them that entitles them to treat "non-religious" people as inferiors. No big surprise when they try to talk religion to potentional converts that we don't want your brand of religion. But all in all hypocrites have nothing to do with my beliefs.

I actually think there is some logic to the ide that Atheists would tend to be more self-centered. A belief in a grand scheme where one eventually will reap the rewards of whatever one considers “right conduct” would tend to give one a broader view of existence than the strictly Materialist/Atheist viewpoint. If one believes that there is no reward and no consequence beyond the here-and-now, then it would be natural to operate on a basis of “me first” because there is no concern of consequences beyond one’s few decades on this planet.
