 His mom was an American therefore he is an American.

Mirror, my friend, we went through this before, just because a parent is an American citizen does NOT make the child an American....you MUST be born in the country to be an American...otherwise you are just of the parents' lineage, i.e. I was born in USA therefore I am an American....

My grandparents were born in Sweden....therefore I am of Swedish lineage, but NOT a Swedish citizen.......

Goodness......must I educate you on everything?

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG .
An American citizen can have a child anywhere on the face of this, or any other planet, and that child will also be an American. My cousin Rob's wife had her child while in South Wales on vacation. The girl was born 3 months early. She is an American.
I had buddies whilst I was in the army that had children in foreign owned hospitals on foreign soil. Even though the wife happened to be native to that foreign country, the child is STILL American.

"Through birth abroad to two United States citizens
See also: jus sanguinis
In most cases, one is a U.S. citizen if both of the following are true:

Both parents were U.S. citizens at the time of the child's birth
At least one parent lived in the United States prior to the child's birth.
INA 301(c) and INA 301(a)(3) state, "and one of whom has had a residence." The FAM (Foreign Affairs Manual) states "no amount of time specified."

A person's record of birth abroad, if registered with a U.S. consulate or embassy, is proof of his or her citizenship. He or she may also apply for a passport or a Certificate of Citizenship to have his or her citizenship recognized.

Through birth abroad to one United States citizen.
For persons born on or after November 14, 1986, a person is a U.S. citizen if all of the following are true:

One of the person's parents was a U.S. citizen when the person in question was born;
The citizen parent lived at least 5 years in the United States before his or her child's birth;
A minimum of 2 of these 5 years in the United States were after the citizen parent's 14th birthday.
A person's record of birth abroad, if registered with a U.S. consulate or embassy, is proof of his or her citizenship. Such a person may also apply for a passport or a Certificate of Citizenship to have a record of his or her citizenship. Such documentation is often useful to prove citizenship in lieu of the availability of an American birth certificate.

Different rules apply for persons born abroad to one U.S. citizen before November 14, 1986. United States law on this subject changed multiple times throughout the twentieth century, and the law as it existed at the time of the individual's birth."

I think what some people are hoping for is a legal distinction being made between "a united states citizen" and "a natural born citizen"

I think it's a reach but...

Natural-born citizen

Who is a natural-born citizen? Who, in other words, is a citizen at birth, such that that person can be a President someday?

Well you know I think that's the question some are hoping to address.

Don't forget there are some legal issues that have hinged on nothing more than the placement of a comma in a statute and even in the Constitution itself.

The OP said "Alot of us are throughly disgusted with the man."

Didn't Obama win both the popular vote AND the electoral vote by a landslide?

So...I'm guessing that "alot of us" are in the minority.

I find it funny what lengths people will go to when they can't stand they lost an election. There is no doubt in my mind that Obama is an american citizen and like i stated earlier people really need to check their sources on their stories. If this was really a issue every news network would be all over it. Turn on you Tv....its not happening, which means these stories conservatives are spewing are more than like not true or are completely unsubstainiated. People need to learn not to believe every little email or story they hear, especially if its coming from conservative radio or the FOX news network....you all have brains use them for God's sake!noway frustrated

Oh come on Lindyy, thats a classic redirect. You CONSERVATIVES need to take responsbility for your mistakes. You cant go around blaming independents and liberals for your curruption and blatant mis-management of out goverenment. I got news for you sister Fox News and Hannity are the most biased biggoted news organizations in this country. Granted the liberals can be just as bad but to blame the other side for you being caught with your phants down is completely ridiculous and stupid. I at least know something about journalism and thats when i report a story i at least check my sources. So no in no way am i doing what i accuse others of. I at least try to be an informed voter and did my own fact checks instead of jumping at the first political ad or statement and drawing a conclusion. I have news for you Linddy not everyone who voted for Obama was liberal, non conservative, non-republican, or non-christian or black or hispanic. I am a white moderate conservative independent Taoist, Christian american man who proudly voted for Obama. Get off your pious high horse and realize something: The Repulicans screwed up and they no longer as a body represent conservative values. That is why they lost this election. When you screw up you suffer the consquences! Wake the hell up before you burn in it.frustrated

Humm "Those who dislike President Bush are in the minority"

That statement is clearly in error.

Some poll numbers for you. Even FOX viewers disapprove of Shrub by a wide majority. The numbers in November.

USA Today/Gallup 28% approve 68% disapprove
CNN/Opinion Research 28% 68%
FOX/Opinion 27% 67%
Wall Street Journal 26% 67%

I challenge you to find examples of voting by any dead people in the presidential election. Despite voter registration being submitted that were not valid poll challengers did not find dead or fictional people that were registering showing up to vote.

Registering is not voting.

Both federal and state governments and investigative agencies and private poll monitoring organization of many political orientations have been closely watching elections and it just isn't happening.

Why? Because organizations that pay for voter registrations invite fraud by paying per person registered. There is no financial incentive in showing up to cast a vote fraudulently when being caught doing so subjects one to a substantial fine and a ten year prison sentence.

I said oops after Barack Obama made president. Yes, I did vote for him.

I made a big mistake.frustrated frustrated

I watched the winners as they celebrated their win. The cameras scanned the audience showing faces of people beaming with rapture gazing up towards the lighted stage as if they were looking at God.

They were in tears of joy and rapture. An instrumental Christmas song was playing in the background. It was "Joy to the World!" They were gazing lovingly at their savior!

Then the cameras moved up to the stage depicting the new leaders, Obama and his wife and the vice president and his wife. They were smiling and holding hands.

The cameras zoomed in on Obama's face at the right time. The background music was playing the part were the words would be :

"Let earth receive her king!"

"LET EARTH RECEIVE HER KING...!!"

OMG I thought. I've been fooled. Obama is the anti-Christ. He is the new and popular leader who will be in position to rule the entire world.

The camera's then panned to the audience where someone was holding up a large picture of Obama. This reminded me of countries where dictators have their picture plastered everywhere.

Obama items are selling like hot cakes. Cups, T-shirts, etc.

Hail the King!

We are in big trouble folks.

And look at the people he is surrounding himself with now. Look who is backing him.

Israel.

Israel wants to get started on that war in the middle east as soon as possible. Already stories of Pakistan terrorists are being released and warnings of new terrorists attacks worse than 9-11 is to be expected in the U.S.

(How the hell do they know this? Who puts out this propaganda?)

Hail King Obama.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. scared

The Trib published this today in response to some ad's purchased regarding Obama's birth certificate.

•The birth form released by Obama was "an unsigned, forged and thoroughly discredited" live birth form, Schulz says.

Last summer, Obama's campaign presented a digital copy of his certificate of live birth. After critics questioned its authenticity, staff at FactCheck.org, a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, said they had seen, held and examined the actual birth certificate.

•"Hawaiian officials will not confirm" that Obama was born in their state, Schulz says.

Initially, Hawaiian officials said that privacy laws prevented them from releasing a copy or confirming that Obama's copy was authentic. But in late October as questions persisted, Hawaii's health director and head of vital statistics reviewed Obama's birth certificate in the department's vault and vouched for its authenticity.

•Schulz says that legal affidavits state Obama was born in Kenya.

The affidavits that Schulz refers to are filings by the Obama critics themselves in the court cases challenging Obama's citizenship.

•Obama's paternal grandmother is recorded on tape saying she attended Obama's birth in Kenya, Schulz says.

The group's Web site posted what it says is a transcript of a long-distance phone conversation in Swahili and English from late October between a questioner in the United States and Sarah Hussein Obama, in her Kenyan home. The translator said he was one of two interpreters conducting the interview in a crowded hut during a celebration, over a speaker phone that dropped the call three times. A copy of the recording was not provided by Schulz.

• Schulz says that "U.S. law in effect in 1961 [the year of Obama's birth] denied citizenship to any child born in Kenya if the father was Kenyan and the mother was not yet 19 years of age."

If a child is born in the United States—as Hawaiian officials state that Obama was—that child is a U.S. citizen regardless of his or her parents' nationalities. If born to an American parent outside the U.S., the law at the time would require the U.S. citizen parent to be at least 19, which Obama's mother was not. The provisions of this law were subsequently loosened and made retroactive for government employees serving abroad and their families. It appears that this would not apply to Obama's mother. The matter would seem to be academic: Hawaiian officials vouch for Obama's birth certificate.

•Schulz says that in 1965, Obama's mother relinquished whatever Kenyan or U.S. citizenship she and Obama had by marrying an Indonesian and becoming a naturalized Indonesian citizen.

U.S. law lists the specific acts and formal procedures necessary to relinquish U.S. nationality. The statute requires the acts be performed voluntarily and with the intention of relinquishing one's nationality. In many instances, one must be 18 to renounce one's citizenship. Obama moved to Indonesia in 1968 and moved back to Hawaii while still in grade school. There is no indication that Obama renounced his U.S. citizenship.
