"Yes, we wave this flag of hatred, but you're the ones who made it..."

What do you think of your current home, beit state policies or country-wide policies? Do you feel what is happening is right, wrong, or indifferent? Do you feel helpless, strong, or don't really care?

Par my avatar I am disgusted with the country I live in, have been for years. We drop fire from the sky in the only bid of "freedom" that the word freedom has lost all and any meaning to me. We have killed, pillaged, and taken what we wished from countries that don't have a strong economy or army for defense. We take the very freedoms that are our's to have par the document that was signed the day this land was found and freed...disgusting.

Other than sit behind a keyboard and moan about how bad your life is, and how bad your country is, have you ever done anything to make either a better place?

Nobody owes you a life, and nobody owes you a living. Those are things that you should be doing for yourself.

I understand your disgust with both parties and I honestly dont blame you at all. I have friends that feel the same way you do and you are absolutely entitled to feel that way and no one should bash you or insist that you "just get out". That kind of nonsense bugs the b-jesus out of me.

If I remember correctly, Fear said he was "planning on leaving". If he doesn't want to be criticized, maybe he shouldn't be voicing his criticism online, freedom of speech works both ways.

Noooo, I was saying, with all the folks on here who are pissing and moaning about how bad this country is, and how bad the president is, and what they would do instead, and blah-blah-blah ad nauseum, I thought that they would've had their own names on the ballot in the bid for the presidency, but I sure as hell didn't see 'em.

the republicans and democrats have everyone convinced that a vote for anyone else is a wasted vote

That comment was just as irritating as the "get out if you dont like it" typical redneck stance on things.

You run for President. See how well that goes over.

My personal view is that we can only change what we can control and what is within our own grasp and sphere of influence. You can start off very small, with an idea or a theory, or a proposal or a premise. That might be all it takes. I know in the past that when I have stood back and looked at the big picture, it has overwhelmed me and caused me to feel powerless. But when I focus my energy on projects that are closer to home, the results have been quite positive and they tend to have a mushroom effect.

I have read each and every post on this thread. I have to say, I am surprised that I am going to post my beliefs here since I don't believe in discussing politics. I just feel I have to have my say. The first thing that struck me was how great this country is, to even have this post here with all the different opinions. What a great nation we are.

Now, I do take exception to a couple of statements here I find very offensive as I am sure some will find in my post. I am neither a "Uneducated Redneck". I am highly educated, I pay a great amount in taxes etc. I am one of the americans that are just holding on and praying the portfolio gets better. I also believe that the Left wing should be in Eutopia right now,we have a democrat house, senate and white house. let's see what you got is my motto.

Now I voted for McCain because of Palin since I believe in her. I had to correct someone just yesterday on the so called bridge to no where, that was the bridge she veto'd not the bridge she is wanting. Anyone really want to know email me and I will set the record straight.

I will also stand up and defend Obama as our president for two reasons. I am an American and that means I may not like who is President but I will respect him while he holds that office. The other reason I think is a more profound reason, if that man does just one thing different he will have fullfilled his campaign promises. He ran on a ticket of Change he didn't really state what they were but that was it in a nutshell. Okay so far I am seeing the Clinton era all over again.

I have no desire to leave my country I love my country. I think it is great you have that right to do so if you want. I will instead stay here and do everything in my power to make my little niche better, knowing that there are others like me around the country and hoping someday it spreads like a virus.

Do I believe in my Gov anymore not really because they can't or won't change till we the people make them change.

I grew up with the words drilled in my head and I believe in them

We the People, Of the People, for the People. Well we are the PEOPLE.

Whatever that means. He got in. McCain was denied. The people collectively spoke and the undereducated rednecks were silenced. For the time being at least.

I guess it worked out just fine. Thanks for asking.

we're not silenced yet

it just takes awhile to thunk up a new argument (we're kinda uneducated)

To the OP:
You're welcome to the freedoms in the documents of foundation, for which I fought, and for which some of my friends paid dearly.
Do as you will.

Things that I wish were not so, are not so for much longer. This, too, shall pass.

To the anti-redneck:

As for rednecks, I will take two rednecks for good neighbors anyday over five million socially correct idjits. My friends dislike tuxedos and gala political fairs, yet it is these same men and women who literally enable walking on the moon and changing the world and whom the world rightly fears and whines against.
I do not repent of my friends, and will guard their back, but I cannot and will not depend on an anti-redneck to be trustworthy, for they are not. Looking down upon uneducated people is crude haughtiness, and is insulting in the extreme. IMO

My current home country's policies have a looooooong loooooong way to go, to get out from under toxic symbiotic relationships with egocentric greedy nations.

I am ashamed of my european ancestry... and endeavour to do everything in my personal power to go against the mindset of my country's society, and exist authentically.

(Nice rant, by the way.... flowerforyou )

I also wrote in Paul and Root, I've written the house probably more than you have. I've marched through streets and spoke with representatives on issues, I've read, listened, and learned everything I could.

I've been writing the house since I was about 15 or so, I went on my first march when I was 18 in protest of the war heading towards Iraq, the first governor I spoke with was Michael Leavitt in 2003ish in Utah. I brought up points about the war that at the time I didn't agree with such as motivation to go, recieved little to no answers (figure he probably really didn't know much about it himself)...so I wrote the president, and recieved a thank you letter about 2 weeks later stating "Thank you for your interest in the United States" that explained about as much as the governor was able too.

So yes I've taken action, I've spoke out, and I've written...all but did nothing, so how about you try and change the country...get back to me on how it works out for you.

Im not sure who this was directed at as several posters have used the term "redneck" in a less than flattering sense. Sir, clearly if you had read the entire thread and how the term "undereducated redneck" was being used in context, you would understand that it was in reference to people who generally subscribe to a policy of strict intolerance, conservative viewpoints to the exclusion of all others, right wing agenda and make comments the likes of, "If you dont like this country, get the hell out."

I myself have zero tolerance for such belligerent stupidity.

Intolerance is contagious. Your intolerance does not seem any more enlightened, demeaning a person for their opinion/stance whereas the "get out" is not a character assassination. My post was, and is, directed at such derogatory statements. It is that assault upon personal character that seems crude and abusive.
Thank you.

If a person is going to sit there and tell me to "get out of this country" simply because I might have concerns about where the last administration has landed us, namely the Iraq war and the current economy, then absolutely sir, I stand by my words.

The "get out" comment is a fellow American telling me I have no right to remain in this country (even though I was born here) simply because I disagree with their political agenda and campaign of hate and oppressive intolerance.

My suspicion is that you lean that way.
