Our value cannot be measured in any "tangible" terms. We are human
beings and, as such are "valuable." Period. |

LW, I worked in the "rat race" for close to 30 years and now run my
business from home. AND raised a child and maintained a household as well. Both are very demanding, in and of themselves, and even more so when a woman has to do both. But, because a woman doesn't make MONEY as a homemaker/SAHM, oftentimes she's considered lazy and so forth, which is totally unfair, IMO. |

oh sorry...it would be "used to."

BTW I completely agree. Motherhood alone-full time job. I grew up on the
fringes of a very well to do community. From outside in I saw both examples. -very involved in upkeep of house, children's activities, necessary daily errands -proazac and bonbon munching, Bob Barker watching, shopping and lunch with the girls, drinks at 5 |

Alicia Keys
A Woman's Worth (Verse 1) You could buy me diamonds You could buy me pearls Take me on a cruise around the world Baby, you know I'm worth it Dinner lit by candles Run my bubble bath Make love tenderly to last, and last Baby, you know I'm worth it (Bridge) Wanna' please; wanna' keep; wanna' treat your woman right? Not just over the shoulder, let her know she's worth your time You will lose, if you choose, to refuse to put her first She will and she can find a man who knows her worth! Mmmmmmmmm (Chorus) 'Cause a real man knows a real woman when he sees her (when he sees her) And a real woman knows a real man Ain't 'fraid to please her (please her) And a real woman knows a real man always comes first (first) And a real man just can't deny A woman's worth Mmmmmm hmmmmm (x1), Mmmmmm hmmmmm (x1), Mmmmmm hmmmmm (x1), Mmm (Hold up) (Verse 2) 'Cause If you treat me fairly I'll give you all my goods... Treat you like a real woman should Baby, I know you're worth it If you never play me Promise not to bluff I'll hold you down when **** gets rough 'Cause baby, I know you're worth it (Bridge 2) She walks the mile; makes you smile, all the while being true Don't take for granted the passions that she has for you You will lose, if you choose, to refuse to put her first She will and she can find a man who knows her worth! ...OH! (Chorus) 'Cause a real man knows a real woman when he sees her (when he sees her) And a real woman knows a real man Ain't 'fraid to please her (please me) And a real woman knows a real man always comes first (first, baby) And a real man just can't deny A woman's worth [Breakdown] No need to read between the lines Spelled out for you (spelled out for you) Just hear this song 'Cause you can't go wrong when you value(Better value...) A woman's, woman's, woman's, woman's Worth! (yeah) [Chorus (x2)] 'Cause a real man knows a real woman when he sees her (when he sees her[1st time]) (nothin' like a woman's worth [2nd time]) And a real woman knows a real man Ain't 'fraid to please her (please me [1st time]) (ohhh, ooh [2nd time]) And a real woman knows a real man always comes first (first, baby [1st time]) (comes first [2nd time]) And a real man just can't deny A woman's worth (a woman's worth) Mmmmn hmmn (x1) Dooooh Mmmn hmmn (x1) Suba duba do'h do'h Mmmn hmmn (x1) doodle dee doodle dee Mmmmn hmmn (x1) Oohh Mhmn mhmn (x1) Better Cherish that woman Mhmn mhmn (x1) You better be good for that woman Mhmn hmmn (x1), Mmmn hmmn (x1) Ooooh yeah COULD NOT OF SAID IT BETTER MY SELF |

My refusal was not based on the fact that I stayed at home but that I
did not work while I stayed at home--same thing? They did not even get as far as checking my credit hx, which is sterling (auto loans in my name only, credit cards in my name only, mortage payments, utilities, etc.) Here's a heads up--if you are married and are not working, even if everything is in your name, the breadwinner in the family is the one who is actually credited (so to speak) with the on-time payments, not you. I seriously thought that women having to worry about their status in the world of finances while they stayed at home to raise children was something the was remedied in the 70s. I haven't done anything *wrong* as far as the lenders are concerned, I just have not done anything right. (Even though my name is on the mortgage and I--along w/the ex up until 2 years ago--have never had a late mortgage payment or missed a payment in 16 years, that, apparently, is not good enough.) They don't care what good you have done in the past; they want to know what you are going to do in the future. I look bad on paper. The mortgage guy said it killed him to give people 2nd mortages knowing they filed for bankruptsy (sp?) last month, but going by the guidelines, he can't give me $20,000 out of all the equity I own in my home. "seriously though, it is a shame that stay at home parfents are not valued more. However, your refusal was not based on you staying home hun, it was based on the fact that as far as credit goes you did not exist. Soemthing we should be teaching the younger generation is to build their credit up from the beginning. YOu do not need to be working, you do not need credit cards. believe it or not, for those that ar emarried or live with someone, simply put the utilities in both names or your name. After fifteen years (as an example) your credit will be glorious as long as you always paid your utilities on time. This goes for phone, water, anything that has an account." |

Oh, my kids have success already. I have 2 teenagers who don't smoke,
use drugs, drink, or have sex (not that sex is bad, but it's not for kids at their young ages). They are both "A" students, too. When I see bad things on the news (which is why I don't watch the news) and feel helpless about things in the world that are out of my control, I realize I have done what I can--I raised 2 smart, respectful, and honest children. (Not that we are the Donny Osmond family--I still want to choke the daylights out of them on a semi-regular basis!!!) ok rivergurl? i know it's difficult to wait but your children's successes are what you get and that's not zero zip nada" |

Good Morning TTT and your welcome:)

hey river, I dont know all the details, obviously, but it almost sounds
as if you are being discriminated against. As lon as yo have a clean credit history, adn a means to pay the loan back, then there should have been no reason for you to be turned down. And if this is the case, then you need to go to another lender and or a lawyer about it. You said they never even ran your credit? If not, then what was there reasoning behind it? As I said earlier, as long as your name is on those bills, uitlity, phone, car whatever and they are all on time or even having falen behind a bit but if you got them back up or are in the process of getting them back up and still making regular payments then there should be no reason for oyu to have been denied, especially if you already own that equity, and yhou have a way to pay it back if neccesary (income). |
