"A church can't make political donations without losing their tax exempt status."...I beleive you hit the nail on the head! What gives a "Church" the right to donate to a "State" policy on gay marriage? I think all Churchs, non-profits, and Bussiness shouldnt be able to. Do they Yes! Does it make it right NO! Just think of the power that would give "Your Vote".

They can't donate to a state policy, but they have every right to lobby / speak against (including funding advertisements) for (or against) an issue important to them. You can't take away their freedom of speech just because you disagree with their message.

You cannt take away Islams right to free speech just because its not the same kind of religion as Catholic. What about the Atheist?

Ive GTG but want to say this. When I started this thread people were "aprehensible" to say the least. People took seats to see the "fireworks". People question whether or not it "broke" the rules. I have seen a good discussion without it!!! Thanks for keeping it civil!drinker

I've already addressed this...

This isn't hard to understand: If an organization, group or individual stays within the law, then I support their use of freedom of speech.

But I do have to correct you on one thing: "You cannt take away Islams right to free speech just because its not the same kind of religion as Catholic"

No. I was clarifying for you the organizational difference between Islam and Catholicism, in that one is a group of independent Mosques while the other has a centralized hierarchy. Islam cannot act, because it is just a belief system. Catholicism can act as it is a belief system and a church.

Your freedom of speech is guaranteed by the Constitution. So no matter your region or lack thereof, you have the right to free speech.

Spider, I don't want to debate you church and state, separation of church and state, or the Constitution. This thread I was opening up the public's perception of it pertaining to abortion. I have seen both sides debated and welcome it. I learn from that and get to give my perspective. Thanks for sharing the knowledgedrinker I have learned things about the Catholic Church and religion of Islam I didn't know.

The Constitution is flawless. It even allows for the failing of the government. "Failing? A widely used word these days.

You and I probably agree on a whole lot of issues. I have my dads conservatism with my moms democratic side(I did not say liberal, looney, libatard or ECT!)..I have been a registered Independent since legal age. I believe in family and laws pertaining to be very personal. I believe in the local laws. Kids and school, Dam right they're mine! Don't mess with them! If you have a problem with the schools, get involved locally. Your kids are not being taught anything that you cant be made aware of or to refuse it if you want. One reason I take State and local law very personal.

Now back on topic what was it?laugh About the public perception of public debate about abortion when religion is brought into it.
