Portland students want to rename school after Obama 07:53 AM PST on Thursday, November 13, 2008 By KGW Staff PORTLAND -- Students are trying to get a Portland school renamed after President-elect Barack Obama. Portland Public Schools was already in the process of renaming the school currently known as “Clark K-8 at Binnsmead School” and a naming committee is working on a list of suggestions that the public will eventually vote on. But after the November election, some of the students got the idea to throw Obama’s name into the ring. Do you think it would be appropriate to name a Portland school after President-elect Barack Obama? A couple of people have e-mailed the school, suggesting it be named after the new American leader and Willamette Week was even reporting that students at the school were heard chanting Obama’s name one day, and filling out forms to get his name of the voting list. No word on exactly when the official vote will happen or what other names are up for consideration. The school is located at 2225 SE 87th Avenue, in Portland. I take it your mad about the stamp too..

Obama is no different except for the fact that in his rise he openly affiliated himself with a known terrorists and racist Anti-American preacher. Obama is a rich Halfrican, nothing more! The rest of the world has shown us that Obama's Marxism and Biden's Socialism work really well!!!

When his kids go to school and have to mark what they are, they have to check black. Right or wrong, that is the way it is. |

There was a rule that a person had to be dead to be on a stamp.
But you know, you can make your own stamps with pictures of your kids or dog...whatever on them as long as they aren't obscene. At least you could a year or so ago. That must be a liberal program designed to undermine society and forward a radical agenda too. |

Either way he is not BLACK the media is pronouncing him a Black man, I have a friend who is 1/8 black doesnt look like it at all is he black? He doesnt fill out black on any forms. The fact of the matter is he is not sure on this but 1/2 white? and half black?

So you believe a government funded school should have completly free rights!!! A duh you answered your own question there, a private school can name itself whatever it wants not a public one though!!!

One more time. If the people in the school district want to name the school after Obama that's their call. Everyone else ought to butt out.

Just one more question for you then some truly "racist" town decides that they want to change the name of their school to the Brian A. Scates Memorial Highshcool?(Im sure your not aware but he was the first president of the KKK, which at one time was one of if not the largest orginazations ever in the USA.) Is this appropriate?

They named an airport after Regan and after what he did to the air traffic controllers that was not appropriate. If the people in the neighborhood and the students want to name the school after obama or Mister Magoo it's their business and no one elses. I agree I vote for Magoo. |
