Topic: If Obama is such a brilliant man...

* ahem *

Not to break up the little party here...but Obama's religion ( I could personally give a sh*t less if he's Muslim, Buddhist, or a member of Charlie Manson's extended " family " ) isn't the issue here. I would like someone to take a look at one of his ( reported ) choices for a cabinet position, and tell me why we shouldn't be leery of his future choices if he does choose the current Governor of Michigan.

*ahem*

I wasn't commenting on someone else's reply. Go fly a kite.

It's his thread!!

I'm going to look further into it.flowerforyou

Just remember to look at all sides of it. Like I said...what I posted is not unbiased in any way because it comes directly from the Government website.

Just one point of info though....that new business tax that the site says is so revolutionary...it may be revolutionary, but it is extremely unfriendly to businesses that are located here in Michigan. It IS, however, more friendly to businesses coming here, but it's hell for the ones that are, or were started, here.

I think she doing an OK job, I am a registered Republican and I voted for her last time. A lot of the stuff she inherited from the previous Gov.

I personally don't care much about who you were replying to, nor do I care that it was you replying.

I was simply pointing out that his religion has absolutely no bearing on his ability to make good choices for high ranking positions.

There are lots of threads to bash his religion in.

She is doing an " ok job " by doing absolutely nothing to stop the slide that this state has been in for the last decade or so???

Meh. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think she has done pretty much squat.

What other Governor would have done nothing when the State Legislature decided to act like a bunch of Kindergarten babies?

His choice of allowing women to kill babies makes him a murderer and His religion does matter there is only ONE God and the Nation that fails to acknowledge Him will fall.

Well before she took over as Govenor, continued policies and practices of the Big 3 automakers have more to do with their own demise, rather than what the Governor does. Everyone thinks propping up the auto industry is going to save Michigan, and it can't. The Big 3 are almost dead, if they want to survive they need to completly re-invent themselves, not wait for the government to do something to make it better. New industry and manufacturing needs to come to MI. not trying to save a dead/dying auto industry.

Exactly. But yet, she signs into law another tax on businesses that isn't attractive enough to lure major companies here. Much less smaller companies.

She is just as guilty of closing her eyes and whistling past the graveyard of the Big 3 as anyone else. In my opinion, she is more guilty of that than anyone previously because it occurred slowly at first, but the collapse picked up a lot of steam on her watch, and she sat on her hands until things had spiraled to the point it is now.

I don't know anything about her.

Well...for one thing, she was born in Canada. Other than that, just take a look at Michigan's standings in the National Statistics and you'll see what a bang up job she's done here.
what state is doing well after 8 years of Bush? thats like blameing the the dishwasher on the titanic for not seeing the ice berg

My point is, that the failure is the fault of the Big 3, not the government, or in particular the Governor.

Not realy it was the gas and oil prices that dragged down the economy in the first place. When people had to spend any money they had after bills on gas everyone else lost out.

the effect of the price of fuel and the effects of the boom are seperate things.

when the boom ends thousands of people get laid off and companies go out of business. the hated Halliburton quits spending money and hiring worldwide. Hundreds of multi-million dollar drilling rigs get stacked in the pasture to rust

the worst of it on the states will be the loss of billions of tax revenue

it'll be a big hit for all the oil states.

sad but true but the rest of the economy has taken the hit of high oil prices. I am glad as is probably most of america that the prices are comeing down.

My point is....it may not be her fault directly, but the lack of action in finding some way to replace all those lost jobs ( like luring new companies to the state ) certainly is one of the things that would be on the Governor's plate.

He doesn't "allow women to kill babies". He doesn't make Supreme Court rulings.

He is a Christian, btw.
