If you are in a new relationship and want to make certain you really know someone is who they say they are, what is the best way to backround check them before going any further with the relationship?

Most states keep an online record of those individuals that have ever been prison and also sexual criminal activities. Search your state name and offender registary or vicitim notification.

Otherwise if you have some type of information birthday, address etc.. you can pay a company a fairly low fee to do a through check.

But some things you can't get in public records. I had this problem once before. Found out he was a convicted felon, attempted murder, served 6 years in state prison. Nice-LOL

Are you going to tell them you're running the background check?

If you have to run a background check on someone why be with them in the first place???

depends how much the person is willing to share with you.Once in a relationship and you've met the family I think you'd have a better idea how the person really is but that takes time

Indeed, have you tried asking? I'm upfront about my past (as far as I can remember it, long story there), if they ask about convictions I tell them...doesn't bother me if they want to get a background check, would be nice if they asked first though.ohwell

You can't get free public records, but a good pay service is Intelius http://www.intelius.com/search-name.php?searchform=background&&PHPSESSID=0e5d011ec749f9ecdc25517187178c1a

My late brother would have been one to run a check on. Claimed first wife and kids were killed in auto accident, they weren't, wife No.2 was not happy when they caught up with him for child support. Claimed he had a college degree, pilot in Air Force, was a Postmaster.

He was a very personalble, friendly, outgoing, life of the party kind of guy. He had lots of friends, and people just loved him.

Why would you need to run a background check on someone you know when you can ask them about their past. If they choose not to share it then that's their business it just takes time to find out where you are going and they will tell you when they feel the time is right to let yhuh ou know.

They might never tell u, and u won't know till you have been scammed.
